GP/Specialist certificates/reports should be accorded respect for the practitioners’ knowledge and speciality in their various fields. When the advice given overflows into the occupational health speciality, for example, fitness for work, you are advised to seek specialist occupational health advice from EHS who can clarify the appropriate occupational health advice for you.

When advice from EHS appears to be at odds with advice from the GP/Specialist, remember that they are experts in their own fields, but that in the workplace, especially in matters concerning fitness for work, EHS is the occupational health expert. Royal Mail Group will accept the advice of EHS in occupational health issues and work.

That said, you still have rights under the Rehabilitation Agreement between CWU and RM to appeal the ATOS decision and shouldn't loss any pay .
