Sounds like a bully to me.
I'm new and worked with a right idiot for a few weeks, whatever I did was never enough, in the end I just fronted him and had a go back, was a different bloke then.
I'd be wary of seeing your manager about him yet as you don't know how close they are, but certainly speak to your union rep.
In the meantime come in do your job and although it's not easy try to ignore him.

Union rep.I had a very similar issue and i was not even in the union at the time and the union rep helped me out and the guy was given a firm talking to,apparently it opened the floodgates and a few others stepped up to complain about the bully.
