i agree, theres nothing wrong with this attitude apart from the fact you may get overlooked for overtime. Which is fair enough.coxie wrote:No we don't but when on overtime we ain't going to work 2 hours for 2 hours pay. If I work 2 hours overtime then 4 hours is what I want. Not worth my time otherwise, most jobs pay better rate or more hours for overtime so why should we have to work an hour for an hour when it makes us physically tired.

Are you part of our union and do you abide by our national agreements or are you a special case?
I've got no problem with working all my hours. Overtime is a different matter if they need people to do overtime then they need to pay decent or be prepared to go out theirselves. Working all paid overtime doesn't apply to overtime they are down to office and local agreements. If you've got a good rep and a strong office you'll get a good deal. There's no way I'd go out and do an extra 2 hours worth of delivering for only 2 hours extra pay.

Do you have a link to an agreement that backs up your statement or is it something you just made up to protect your ghost docket?coxie wrote: Working all paid hours doesn't apply to overtime they are down to office and local agreements. You'll get a good deal ......and destroy the CWU in the process.

8 hours for a full walk, does that include indoor work, prepping etc?coxie wrote:They tried this in my office 2 years ago and everyone refused to do overtime. Now we still have 8hours for a full walk and 4 for half. Trust me if you take this it won't just be a summer thing, you'll never get your normal rate back. Remember absorption was supposed to be a summer thing and look how they abused that.

Nope but overtime is a choice, they either accept that we want decent pay and to do get he job done as quick as possible or we ain't doing it. I wouldn't take half a walk out for 2 hours pay or for 4 hours if I was expected to work until 6pm. Managers need overtime people so use it to your advantage of you have a strong office. You show me the agreement where it says working all your paid hours also applies to overtime, you won't find it because it's never been mentioned so we maintain the status quo at most offices who don't let management walk all over us .

Re: Overtime cut for summer
Not that I take on additional walks these days, I’m far too knackered, but when I used to I was paid a full day’s pay for a full walk and pro-rata any part of.
Our office used to have around 10% to 15% of the staff on sick leave at any given time and this left a number of duties that could only be covered by people doing overtime.
The overtime rate was scarcely any higher than the basic. So to make it attractive and get the work covered they doubled the hours rather than the rate.
From RM’s point of view this was better than either having the office fail or having to employ agency staff at short notice who would have been firstly, more costly and secondly, less experienced and less effective.
