thats the feeling in our office as well mate,,but the RM and the union reckon there is not enough work to sustain them. so as a result they are scrapping them...they say it is happening nationally. we,ve been told the new proposed shift patterns are not going to be a yes or no vote,,they are going to be an option in place of the 9 day fortnites and if we decide not to take the options then they will be brought in anyway. we said this is executive action,,,the rep AND the branch say it isnt.Pete22 wrote:Should bloody hope not , if they come looking our 9 day fortnight it will cause a riot.daveyeff wrote:are headquaters aware that management are doing away with the agreed 9 day fortnites and 3 on 1 off working patterns? its seems they are doing this all over the country....whats the score here then...do we have to accept it.?

Re: reverting back to 5 day week.
Of course it is industrial action and you have a right to disagree.
There are lots of 4 day weeks and 9 day fortnights out there. The problem being is that all attendances patterns have to ensure there is enough workload. This is the issue in lots of cases but due to parcels growing even if Amazon are now delivering a lot of their own you should argue that you remain on the 9 day fortnight as the BT and all relevant agreements still hold the field.
All 4 day and Nine day fortnight option increase the amount of part timers compared to 5 day weeks as you have longer attendance days.

Re: reverting back to 5 day week.
thank you for that long awaited reply dingo....there is a lot of people in our office that feel we are being misrepresented by the union and by what they are telling us..we are all anxious and we want some clarity and direction to our options.. they have said there is not enough work monday tuesday and saturday to sustain the 9 day fortnites. we offered to do ''longs and shorts'' but they said working longer days wed thur and friday will take us over 9 hrs on these days, incurring an extra 10 minute break time which is a negative option cos its at cost to the company..we offered to do this extra break time at no cost (we wont book it). they said that would be unacceptable by the union...they,ve told us if we try to keep our 9 day fortnites there will be job losses..?? does this mean there will be compulsory redundancies if we dont accept their options ? seems like scaremonging to get us to accept. they've told us the new duty structures will NOT be a yes or no vote..? it will be an options vote of A. B. C. or D... a 9 day fortnite will NOT be included in the options. we said well we wont pick any of the options put up for offer then.. they said well if that was the case then a MINORITY choice, i.e. one or two people accept one of the options, then that would be the option that will be brough in. there is to be NO STATUS QUO invoked. we,ve even offered to give up 3 days annual leave in order to keep our duty structures..they said this is also unacceptable by the union. every idea we have offered has been countered in the negative...it seems they are hell bent on us losing our duties. we need advice from people in the know who can direct us, and that excludes the unit rep and the branch..regards.

Re: reverting back to 5 day week.
The problem is different offices have different working patterns. So you can't argue for a 4 day week if the office down the road is doing a 5 day week. If they cover more days per person they get to reduce their workforce and save money. The extra workload is automatically absorbed, and after all "letters are dropping". The pay agreement covering 3 years means they can't play with our wages to adjust profits so they are going for the more work for the same money option. The unions know exactly what's going on but they know half their membership wouldn't support industrial action. It ain't gonna get any better, so enjoy it while you can.
