They would definitely sack me if they saw me driving without wearing a seat belt.
But then I don't have a driving licence.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

You would have been instructed at your WTLL or picture advertised that RM and CWU recommend that seat belts are worn at all times during the course of driving unless there is a medical reason in writing for abstaining or reversing your van at the time. Therefore refusing to obey a reasonable instruction is on the list of offences that warrant a precautionary suspension. You will need to argue that not wearing your seat belt was unintentional and was an oversight on your part which will not happen again.

I do know several people in my area that were suspended, and subsequently given 2 year suspended dismissals for not wearing their seatbelts (a purge).

Simple thing is, they're there, it's the law, wear them.

As for the OP, if it is your word against the manager (and they have no other evidence I.e. like a photograph), then I'd suspect dismissal is unlikely.

However, take advice from the Rep and go from there.
It may be best to admit it, apologise and tell them it was a one off error, as you usually wear you belt, I'm sure.
Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.
