a national unnofficial walk out would be a disaster - bringing fury from the government, opposition (torys) and public.

Labour and the Tories won't be happy unless there's a complete defeat, so they can be discounted.

As for public support - when that's measured by the media, the public really means "business support" - like all those w*****s they interview who are supposed 'victims of the post strike' and most likely f***ing over their own staff.

Real people in the 'public' - actual workers, most us are facing similar shitty deals so I think there'd be quite a lot of support at that level. Whether that would translate into anything tangible though (solidarity strikes, support groups) is an entirely different matter. If things do go all out, then I reckon postal workers should be organising local meetings to explain what's happening - build up support bit by bit that way.

seems gordan and his business chummies are getting hot under the collar. as they lose some money in there investments. we are obviously having an impact. even had a minister calling for backing us.[sorry cant remember her name] lets keep it going and stay strong],work your hours ditch ur cars and do ur job. ffs pass this on and make people aware of what is at stake.....

If u want to split the workforce and bring the government in against us with a fury then all out unofficial it is.

30% of our 90 odd delivery office broke the weekend strike. You'd have less than 50% out i reckon on an unofficial in our DO cause many saying they can't afford it. Unofficial strikers will get sacked, union r out in the cold and RM will have lost it's 40,000 so painlessly thay will be laughing in our faces. We should try the cwu way first - we havn't given it enough time yet have we?
