Beggars fecking belief. So they give us 6% over 2 years and an iffy 2.8% in the third year. We cannot hit the gates if inflation spikes upwards because they will throw their toys out of the pram. All voting papers need an addition at the bottom. Do you have any faith in the current CWU Executive?

nah as far as I read it is national strikes that are the problem .... local strikes are the only way to go

Just got to look at the backpay,the extra 200 quid and the 200 quid Christmas bonus to see that the shortsighted majority of staff will endorse this deal regardless of the longterm damage ahead im afraid.....

nah as far as I read it is national strikes that are the problem .... local strikes are the only way to go

Right. So if RM behaves in a way that effects all DOs that we are not happy with. We can claim each office is on a local strike..

None, they are now official stooges of Royal Mail.


So much for the official mouthpiece saying "they would never agree a No Strike deal" but they have in effect done just that.

The union does nothing to engender confidence in enticing new members and so in five years time with any influx of new members not joining and the outflow of existing members exactly how many people are the CWU going to represent. It must be pretty marginal now, at least RM think it is judging from the way they've played them.

Where in the proposal does it say no strike?
It tells us what Royal Mail wants us to know but this action by RM would only lead to a bitter dispute.
Over the years our working conditions have been whittled away mostly by aided by the actions of our colleagues which is continuously discussed on these boards.
Workers in the UK have been attacked on all fronts and many of the concessions won in the past have been lost, most would bite your right arm off for a deal such as this.
I work in an office where people talk tough but when push comes to shove they go quiet and find any excuse not to strike, I have taken part in every strike in my long time at RM. I think a lot of people on this board sound off without really looking at the bigger picture.
This proposal is not a cure all, I believe that before the five years is up we will face major issues that will bring us to the brink.
The negotiators have done a fair job they've kept jobs, got us a reasonable pay deal and secured terms and conditions.
