The one in which trials with putting all the D2D in a sleeve are being run in the bundling centre.RedBagMan wrote:Which planet is this happening on ???international wrote:They are coming in a sleeve so they are all in one and when.you prep you throw one sleeve with six/7 d2d so u dont need much time to prep
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

At the moment it's sleeving machine-singular and it's in Swindon WBC.Jimmy Carr`s laugh wrote:Where are the sleeving machines kept?

My personal opinion for what it's worth.
It's not going to fly on any major scale.
Shapes, sizes, weights all play a part in D2D,can this machine handle that?
Can a sleeve be perfected that can "open up" on delivery of the item?
What happens when the area only gets 2 D2D that week, does the machine lie dormant and what do you do with the staff that run it or do you run it anyway with 2 D2D at an overall loss?
But most importantly customers(senders) are only going to be interested if it's significantly cheaper, they will feel they are losing valuable exposure by having it bundled with others,If it isn't cheaper you may well drive them away to the competition.
That's going to eat into any potential savings before you start.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

All things that RM already know, and what we will hear is 'sorry all, we tried bundling up D2D but unfortunately it didn't work as we hoped and we're already committed to unlimited lots now'fishtank wrote:At the moment it's sleeving machine-singular and it's in Swindon WBC.Jimmy Carr`s laugh wrote:Where are the sleeving machines kept?

It's embarrassing sticking 7 pieces of junk thru someone's property. This will eat into my indoor time,,,less to do on street

Re: Door-to-door growth secures jobs
And that's the problem, whether it saves jobs or not we are delivering mostly shite that people don't want. When we are no longer a public service we'll lose the respect of the public as we shove this shite through their doors and will be no better than the foreigner going around with a rucksack full of Chinese menu's.Chelseablue wrote:It's embarrassing sticking 7 pieces of junk thru someone's property. Re: Door-to-door growth secures jobs
Its all very well the CWU saying it secures jobs, but prepping D2D eats into indoor time where getting out on delivery at the guideline time of ~1000 often fails, if you start at the correct time; do you allocated IPS/packets/portering; take your indoor 20mins paid break.
Prepping multiple D2Ds into double slots is "great fun," why are we not using one slot per delivery point, the errors double slots creates almost makes it a WCM issue for them to resolve!
If you do not "nest" the D2D, you are then adding additional outdoor time to the already often impossible workload, if you are filtering mail for the next address while stationary as we are supposed to (so you are not involved in an accident while not looking where you are going).
The sad thing is, if everyone stopped ignoring rules and regulations that do not suit them personally, we could probably abandon D2D altogether and still need more OPGs to complete the letters and parcels workload. Coming in early; not taking paid breaks; filtering on the move; locking up HCTs and carrying pouches to deliver by loops (leaving mail in HCTs unattended, risking instant dismissal); using overweight pouches/LWTs/HCTs etc. are all costing jobs.
