Todays Saturday...worked it. Worked last Saturday, and the one before and the one before...and next weekend.
Think I worked it out, that for 80 weeks, I was getting about 1 in 8 average.

Not good...

Wow, what conflicting replies. I cannot believe the difference in so many different offices  Well it would appear that i have been had. Just dug out my contract and nothing appears on it regarding a rotated day off, however, when i sign it to Royal Mail.com and see my original application my job offer states a rotational day off. If you look at the jobs page now, all vacancies state '1 day off' nothing mentioned about rotated..Funny that!

I don't think there's much i can do and just have to roll with the punches and just sit back and watch all the seniority baske in their 'Most' Saturday's off :evil/mad i wish it could just be fair for christ sake.

Get this even.............Even though i cannot take a holiday outside of school holidays due to small children at school. I get all the dates inside school hours so cannot even take a holiday :evil/mad i have banged on and on about this and i get nowhere........And why??? Because seniority want theirs off in peak season, even though their children flew the nest years ago :arrrghhh forget Royal Mail, i'm Royal pissed off at the moment. I love the job but some things just stink like s**t about it. What can i do folks?

I thought the CWU guidelines for Royal Mail re, Family Friendly hours for having Children is:

If the Child is Under 16yrs, the Child is Under 18 yrs and Disabled...additionally also for a Disabled Adult.

So...if people are getting Hols during the Peak Times etc, and DON'T have Children...sounds a bit "dodgy" to me.

I get 1 in 4 Saturdays off, but the way reserves are treated in regard to how many Saturdays they get off is a disgrace. In our office, they basically don't get any unless they're on leave. Even if the duty they have been on for a while is scheduled to have a Saturday off, it'll either be moved, usually to a Tuesday, or they'll be moved off the duty.

It's a common perception that everyone is entitled to at least 1 in 6 off, if that is written down anywhere it might as well be screwed up and thrown in the bin because its routinely ignored.

Mr Finishontime...Im sure we work at the same place!!!!

Tuesday is correct, as this is the day reserves are generally given off..the quietest day in terms of mail as it happens. Funny that?

Additionally, as the WTL is done then, and no notes/details/or feedback are given, they are left in the Dark and have to guess what went on. Mystic Mag or what?!
So, when New Procedures, Rules or Regs are introduced, they know NOTHING of this, until they are pulled up...and then get told, "We do it THIS way now!"

( Strange how someone who's had Family Friendly working for nearly 10yrs, now gets EVERY Saturday off...Blue Eyes it seems.)
