"Deliver as addressed" can make you look bloody stupid/thick at times ...

(This only works if you're on a regular duty mind)
Only stop if they complain to the office and you get an orange card..........................otherwise just keep on delivering it, you'll never get into trouble with RM for delivering the post to the correct address.

Is it worth risking your job though? What if someone has since seen the people who live there now and asked them to keep any mail for them.

Yes ......well good luck. You make the common error in believing that the recipient is the customer rather than the real customer who has paid to have it delivered - which is not a decision you and a third party can make.

"I deliver to dead people"

:chuckle

Incidentally - slightly off topic but relevant - anyone know how long it takes for a "kill-off" to wend its way back to the 'customer' - or more to the point how long it takes a 'customer' to update their address database ??

Surely picking up letters from doorsteps is theft whether they are endorsed or not? The current occupant may not have left them there for the postie. They may have agreed to leave them there to be collected by the previous occupant, or their friend or relative.

Never, judging by some recent bulk mailings.

We have a bulk mailer in our area and the length of time depends on where its being returned from. In some cases its back in 2 or 3 days according to the kill off sticker - sometimes though it can be a few months - I suppose it depends on when the DO sends its dead back to the MC.

Virgin take years to update their database - We still get flats from them for a 300 house estate that was flattened 6 years ago and they still send them to the old addresses despite the estate being rebuilt with a different plan and different street names.
