"utilise post offices more" isn't going to happen now the Post Office side of the business has been separated from Royal mail and "without the customer having to pay a charge" is just as unlikely given all the things that are charged for that were once free.dvbuk55 wrote:We had a makeover in our callers last November running right up to christmas eve, in the infinite wisdom of the planners we went from two serving hatches to oneand there is so little room you are struggling to get two people in the counter area. Although there is more shelving space there is still not enough and you're never going to have enough at christmas. I really think it is time to re-evaluate parcel collection and utilise post offices more without the customer having to pay a charge, I'm sure it would be used more if there was no charge.

Look at it this way, you have an organisation that is in decline and if Royal Mail offered an annual payment to utilise their staff and space - who's going to turn it down? Now if people on park and loop are dropping parcels and packets at the post office instead of the callers office then you would not need as many staff and the existing space would probably be sufficient. The customer charge would be waived as part of the overall payment and Post offices would be getting more people through the door and those people would have less distance to travel to pick up a parcel.Lounge Lizard wrote:"utilise post offices more" isn't going to happen now the Post Office side of the business has been separated from Royal mail and "without the customer having to pay a charge" is just as unlikely given all the things that are charged for that were once free.dvbuk55 wrote:We had a makeover in our callers last November running right up to christmas eve, in the infinite wisdom of the planners we went from two serving hatches to oneand there is so little room you are struggling to get two people in the counter area. This is a WCM idea? For years we''ve been using a different colour pen each week and we write the door number on the packet. How much do they pay these morons to come up with ideas that are already in use

Likewise you could argue that Royal Mail should still be doing Cash On Delivery and Post Offices should still be selling TV licenses and accepting water bill payments.dvbuk55 wrote:Look at it this way, you have an organisation that is in decline and if Royal Mail offered an annual payment to utilise their staff and space - who's going to turn it down? I won't disagree with you but it's not going to happen.
