Should we be fed up writing out P739's?
It is our job,it isn't particularly difficult and if they stop ordering stuff online we're screwed.
I know it's not a particularly popular view but i think moaning at customers for ordering stuff, although understandable...is pretty suicidle jobs-wise.

How far would she go in the effort to produce real competition to timed and notified delivery, one company actually texts with a delivery time on the day, another where you can ring on the day and they will give you a very close approximate: very efficient..........but at what cost? Owner/operator car/van deliveries at minimum wage or less, franchised delivery areas, non union workforce, poor quality control, even poorer standard of staff. The union needs to be taking a close look behind the facade of the new working relationship and start sniffing the air through the coffee and biscuit fumes of the meeting rooms to the bullshit behind the screen.

Re: Courier: a hint of what's in store on deliveries ?
The simple solution to all packet deliveries.
Options when ordering ALL parcels that allow customers to select any of these specific instructions to be written on to the parcel.
1. Please leave in office, will pick up. (739 goes with postie to inform customer)
2. A designated safeplace.
3. Local post office. (card with postie to inform)
4. Delivery as normal because the customer is usually in. (no redelivery option should be allowed for this option)

I've had tracked items where the customer has told me they received an automated text after the item was scanned into the D.O.dvbuk55 wrote:How far would she go in the effort to produce real competition to timed and notified delivery, one company actually texts with a delivery time on the day.
I think it's one of the broadband providers.
On the tracked website it states Signature and SMS/email delivery options.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

I agree. We seem to forget it is our job. Take away the delivering of packets and parcels then we just have letters. That would mean two simple things. More job loses and more full-time to part-time contracts.fishtank wrote:We have to be careful here.malcolm3011 wrote: Totally agree and fed up with writing 739's to the same customers every day, still i suppose if they have to travel to the delivery office every day to pick their parcels up they may get the hint and not order so much stuff online

Every Christmas I end up stuck doing pkts 12-8pm, personally I find evenings a complete waste of time for catching people in, you leave just as many cards as during the day.

Problem is, there is no way to tell your postman not to bother hawking around your parcel all day.[/quote]
But if your using your LWT and looping back to the van is it that much of an issue...?? Well it is if your using a bag to get round quicker finish earlier etc etc...We had the revision a while back,,,,Noone can use their own cars now,,,(big plus) but instead everyone batters it round like a loon to get finished and does packet runs in vans instead of doing the job as sepcified,...Management turn a blind eye but the end result methinks will be bigger rounds and we will only have ourselves to blame,,,

It's still bags on the shoulder for us.
On a couple of duties I cover it's a real problem. Not only do you have to decide if you can fit the packet into your bag, you have to decide if you'll be able to get it in the one after that, and the one after that.
Needless to say, I leave loads for the van driver, if ever there's a problem, I just tell him (the driver) to ask the manager what I'm meant to do with it if there's no one in.

Sounds like hes trying to avoid someone he owes money too...Happens a lot on some of the estates ive worked on,,,Well its that or Jeremy Kyle is too interesting....deanomac83 wrote:Couldn't agree more. Tuesday, exactly same scenario. So come Wednesday, another parcel for same address, so wrote out a 739 in the office, shove it through his door and walked on. Low and behold, bloke comes out 'sorry mate, didn't hear ya'![]()
