How long have you worked for RM buddy
I am afraid dom's are always like this as they choose the least path of hassle which is the poor olde postie. It must be in the training.
Just read this post for more.

Re: WARNED BY DOM
First of all i'm not making excuses for them but it's the company that forces managers into this position.
The problem managers have is there is no middle ground for them....they are discouraged from taking a nuetral position.
To close a customer enquiry they have to make a reasonable assumption of guilt or innocence.
In the absence of any evidence they are basically deciding who is lying...the customer or the postie.
They know that on paper the customer has very little reason to lie other than they might just be a tosser and that's not going to look good on a report and the postie...he has every reason to lie if he fears for his job so you can see why the balance of reasonable assumption in a case with no evidence usually goes against the postie.
It's a weighted system and it's not in our favour.

Re: WARNED BY DOM
had the same thing -and the customers son came out ranting and raving --just stared at him in apparent disbelief -told him that i wouldnt be spoken to like that - and said i would complain to my Manager - hinted that they might have to pick there mail up from the office(6 miles away ) as no postman was safe coming to there house .
they have been nice ever since then

no what i would ov donemrro wrote:it was unreal the way he spoke to me... 1st driving related complaint in 8 years and i was guilty straight away before he even heard my side of the story...
If the police had turned up with hard proven evidence of me speeding then fair enough but to threaten me with removing me from driving was massively over the top... he was like a kid on xmas day with that complaint in his hands!!
Also not happy that the customer felt they couldnt tell me themselves without the need of going to the complaint route!

Re: WARNED BY DOM
I'd make a complaint to your dom that the drive is unsafe to drive up due to pot holes/uneven road/really muddy/dogs at large etc etc I'm sure you can think of something and endorse all the old cows mail from this point on as "address inaccessible". Then she can get a box and put it at the end of the drive and walk down each morning to collect her f***ing mail.

thats the easiest way to do it
if the customer wants to toe the official line, then give them the full official service
As I said before, all these people who just say leave packets at the door etc. Its a different matter when it comes to the crunch

Re: WARNED BY DOM
In future don't sign anything of this nature without first taking advice from the union......mrro wrote:This morning was summoned to the office where our over keen dom read me a customer complaint stating i have been driving too fast up there driveway!!
The driveway in question is a huge one ( 1/2 mile long) leading to a manor house where the lady of the manor has said im driving too fast... I personally dont think i am ...
However the complaint has come through and the dom had to tell me about it... i then had to sign something to say he had informed me about it and told me that he has told his boss that the next time something like this happens i will be removed from driving!!????????
Can a customer with no proof of my speed and in a situation of my word against theres really have this effect?

if a manager asks a leading question like 'what can you tell me about this or that'
always respond with 'not to my knowledge', was not me guv, don't know a thing about that
they can then do SFA
peoples own mouth gets them into trouble
let the rep do the talking for you

Re: WARNED BY DOM
You will be satisfied when you leave them last as I did when someone complained about me walking on their stepping stones, they used to stand out their house watching me deliver all their neighbours, how fun
