What if I'm out in the van on a rural duty ? :shock:
Should I have a qualified first aider with me at all times ? :shock: :crazy: :shock:

nope but depending on the risk assessment you should probably have been taught some basic first aid and have a first aid kit in the vehicle, first aider only required if more than 5 members of staff if a higher hazard area or if 25 members of staff in a lower hazard area, most rm premises are higher hazard due to the amount, lifting moving yorks and vehicles in the yard etc

No risk assessment, no basic first aid training and no first aid kit in the vehicle. :sad:
More or less than five staff, it's perverse that first aid is considered in the relative safety of a Royal Mail site but not out on the open road in all conditions. :sad:

its not royal mail its the national hse guidlines, there has been a risk assesment done its part of the national ssow but it deems the need of both as unneccessary, its funny how brothermagrew hasnt commented even after i pm ed him about the issue about a month ago, the union and rm are in bed over this matter as its a national issue that they are convienently ignoring

but my point is its not considered "in the relative safety of a Royal Mail site" they are only paying lip service to it nationally and are getting away with it nationaly!
