Tips – the truth

Just one f**k up after another this xmas.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Management just hate to see us being appreciated for what we do, so they come up with this stupid rule #1005 is it because they are not getting their bonus this year as Moya took the whole pot for herself and cant bear to see hard working posties get that small something extra from grateful customers who know the difficulties we face day to day. I remember when the office used to give us free coffee machine drinks and bacon sandwiches at christmas time that's all stopped, now i get free lapsing and extra packets instead at christmas time. Thank you RM and merry christmas to you too.

Just wondering exactly how many posties this is going to afffect? Biggest tip I ever got was £20 from a very affluent area and it was very gratefully recieved!

On a new round now, got a few of my old customers who are all very nice but to be honest I would be happy with just a card. To me it's the thought that counts and if they've taken the time to write me a card I am chuffed, cos at least in all the chaos P & L has brought it means I've still managed to give a few of them a half decent service! :nana

Or a job ;or a bit of kindling;or if I know a guy that might have a job going; or if i'd come across anything on my walk that could be burnt or if maybe I'd found something that could cure a gum infection. Long live the fit and healthy, ffs don't fall ill ,cos you are dead meat ,bacteria are nasty bastards and not profit friendly :whistle

I got fifty pounds last year at Christmas from a nice old couple :dance but it's been a nightmare ever since, they ring me up at all hours expecting lifts to the shops and demand i take them on day trips at the weekend! They come round to my house every evening now, just to sit on my sofa and watch tv,they smell of piss and Werthers Original(i'm not sure which is worse)My wife and kids have left me because i couldn't tell them to go!

If anyone is offered such a tip this year, think twice before accepting it,or get them to sign some sort of disclaimer in front of witnesses,i wish i had,it's ruined my life! :Boo hoo!

If a customer gives you money or a present as your christmas tip it should be excepted with the grace it was given!!!!!!! I would never insult my customers by refusing it, they choose to treat you because they want to cos they appreciate the job we do. Im getting really cross now with not only this latest pile of shite but also with the management in general. Its embarrassing especially when you get custmers coming up to you when on delivery stunned at some of the rediculous things mangement say and do and asking us why are they doing it!!! Don't they know that both us and the general public pitty management that come up with these statements and new rules and feel they are destroying the organisation.
