Re: Hourly wage rate
Is it still the .3/.5 thing that is bothering you?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: Hourly wage rate
Postwoman, I do agree that the actual hourly rate should be stated on the payslip but it is not. The payslip does not have a column for hourly rate. But as said before, divide gross amount paid before deductions by the hours worked.
If the hours you have worked also include minutes (ie 30 minutes) then this will be shown as 0.3 so the . is not an expression of a decimal point, it is purely seperating the hours and minutes you have worked, so for instance if you have worked 25 hours and 25 minutes this will be shown as 25.25
So to calculate your hourly rate the easiest way is to convert all of your time into minutes. ie 25 hours and 25 minutes is 1525 minutes. Divide your gross pay by the amount of minutes you have worked which will give you the rate of pay per minute. To convert this to a rate per hour, simply multiply by 60.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Re: Anyone that has .50 hrs ending in their contarcts ??
You need Two things:
Valium, i think would help you relax.
Your'e contract/Payslip works on the basis that .5 is half an hour, thus .75 would be three quarters of an hour.
on your docket you write hours and minutes, eg. day off 7 hours and 20 minutes, you wouldn't write 7.33 hours, but it's the same thing.
I hope this helps your tormented mind and eases the pain

Re: Hourly wage rate
The best way of calculating it is to use the following formula:
y = g /(x - f + o)
where y is your hourly rate, g is your gross pay, x is your contracted hours per week, f is the number of hours you have made if you are a flyer, and o is the number of hours you have worked on overtime for free.

Re: Basic pay on contract
That was 40 hours so the pay rate was £7.82¼p so 29.5 (decimal not time functionPOSTWOMAN wrote:My contract says the starting pay will be at the rate of £312.85/week
my contract was made in March end 2010.
Can someone point out how many hours they talking about aka full-time hrs that pays £312.85; so I can calculate my hourly wage to get my pro-rata salary
would mean gross pay of £230.73

And yes am paranoid having been thru issues like managers screwing u over-time payments which take ages to appear on payslips, shoes which u ordered thru managers were never put in the system, lapsing, extras, and even seeing newcomers who r told they dun get paid breaks etc. For me i wud not be surprised if RM was screwing me over my contract hrs.
