Take it as a learning experience and don't do it again.

Unless its a council or a police ticket then you can't be fined by a private parking company! Its only an invoice.
Sorry, we don't have private parking officials over here, only the NCP ones and even they run serious risks when putting tickets on cars.
As NCP are neither the police or a local council they are a PPC
They work for the councils, they enforce all parking regulations but laws are different over here.

Only a council can enforce their own council tickets, as the charge mentioned is only £25 (which is very low) its clearly not a local authority ticket!

I did have it on display, but it was only half showing as the other half slipped down the gap between my windscreen and the dash.

Anyway any one with a similar experience. Do I have a case if I appeal ?
I really dont want to be handing out £25 especially when I have a permit and it was on display all be it showing only half of the permit.

Is it a private parking company charge? (ppc) at £25 it sounds like it, dont bother appealing. Look online for pepippo, their advice and BBC's own watchdog is don't pay it!
Be careful.... a mate did this and ended up with bailiffs at his door with a bill nearly 20 times the original fine with all the extra charges added. Appeal by all means but don't ignore it!

Rubbish! He may have bailiffs at the door, but again, it's non collectable until they have been thru the court process!

Quite simply, don't respond to just getting a ticket slapped on your windscreen or sent via the post. Wait to see if you get a court papers in the post demanding payment; often they don't follow through (though if you've been clamped/towed you'll need to pay to get the vehicle released see the clamping & towed away section).

This is all about contract law. A firm will allege you breached the 'contract' you tacitly entered when parking, though you say you didn't. To press its case, it'd need to take you to court (don't worry, it's not a criminal problem, just a contract dispute). Yet the important point to remember is...

Would you really bring all that stress down on top of yourself for the sake of a £25 fine?
Pay the fine if you have to...then appeal...then you are on the attack not them.
These websites are full of fighting talk but if you've ever been hounded for money you'll know it isn't worth it.
Constant phone-calls and letters and stress and worry have a hidden cost and it might not be just you that's paying it.

That is of course true but it is also exactly what these bloody vultures rely upon...people thinking that 'it's not worth the hassle, just pay up and forget about it'.

If you have a permit....simply produce it.

There is only 1 website IMHO and thats the "pepipoo " one. They will help you even if you do get a county court summons, which is as rare as hens teeth. What some of these companies reply on is the fear factor, some of their letters/invoice are complete lies!

I'm not saying you shouldn't fight them...just do it from a position of strength.
Then you can bombard them with phone-calls and letters and try to make their life stressful....and have some fun doing it. :angel

If you pay them, then it's an uphill battle to get your money back. Have had dealing with them before, ignoring their letters is no stress at all :)

All sites that deal with these invoices, no they are not fines, will tell you the same thing. It's very rare if they go to court, the only ones I've heard of going to court are the people who are receiving these bills on a regular basis, never heard of them going to court for 1 of them
