Its true the SUN doesn't let the facts get in the way of a good story. The facts are:-
The postie in question was in his own car whilst disposing of the mail
The postie was not delivering the Queens mail he was delivering a neighbouring villages mail
He was not observed by detectives, But an estate keeper spotted him coming out of the woods asked the postie what he was doing the postie said he was going for a pee rather sheepishly so the estate keeper got suspicious and traced his footsteps back to the place where the mail was buried.
The history behind this is I have heard that the postie was getting moaned at by management for claiming too much overtime (how true this is is only hearsay), So the postie was put under pressure to get done without claiming overtime. Not sticking up for the postie concerned but like anything else there are always underlying reasons behind a persons actions..

No DIM in the world could do that to me and most of us on here and we'd be bothered.(ie you know what we'd tell 'em to do!)
As some of the questions on here over the last few months have shown that not everybody is as clued up as some.
People need to be educated and there needs to be more communication amongst each other in our offices.
The question here is and lets just say the hearsay is true is why would he feel the need to do what he did,where was the help from his rep or colleagues???
I would never let any of my colleagues at my place be put under pressure so that they would have to do something like this,and i'm not a rep.

There is also a question about the DIM,but i think we know the answer to that one!

I think the crux of the matter is that we are all put under a lot of pressure with no regard or understanding as to how we can complete the job from management. We are expected to just cope, But not everyone has enough confidence to stand up to managers and say NO, If not it can result in all sorts of results I.E Stress, accidents, mistakes etc etc..You get my drift..

It reminds me of a case in our office a few years ago. We had a young lad on a delivery no one would touch because it couldn't be completed in the two and a half hours which was the span at the time. This lad came in early, used his own motorcycle to convey himself out and back, but to no avail. Two managers started picking on him almost non-stop. The lad began arriving back in time and the managers went around telling everyone the walk didn't need looking at. Everything was fine for a few weeks, then the complaints came in. It turned out the lad would deliver as much as he could, then take the rest to a wood and burn it. He was sacked and prosecuted. He didn't get sent to prison, but he did end up in a mental institution for a few months. Nothing happened to either of the managers over bullying the lad. Every cloud has a silver lining and a couple of years later one of the managers was picked up by the IB for fiddling the charge money and sacked after over thirty years service. The other one had moved to another office and was later sacked for stealing from the mail.
