Lapsing for us,Coming up on 3 years. No word off the union rep. :no no Never see him.Still not done revision yet either.Union? What Union?

same at our office we started with "dont worry lads its only for the six weeks in summer very light lapsing on your way to your round no saturday involved".

it has gradually become 50 houses extra each, miles away from your delivery start point everyday, union guy never makes an objection (manager wannabe we thinks)

but as everyone says work to rule, tell them about cut offs etc and let them stress out trying to match there unrealistic targets, its funny watching a manager panic when no one wants overtime. :dance

Nothing the Union Rep can do - its part of the P&M2007 agreement. What he should do though is back you up as far as possible when you honestly say you cannot complete. Reps can be powerful people when an office backs them up and vice versa - However when there is a National Agreement in place about lapsing, as long as management follow the agreement, there is not much he could do. Even Billy and Dave would struggle.

Ps No I am not a management wanabee. :left:

This is exactly where Im heading with my D.O, mbrs show day after day they have enough time for outdoor absorption. For the last 4 weeks I've said no to outdoor absorption but now I feel I have no grounds to say no due to the amount of J and F being made. Mbrs seem to think that some how we can opt out at our D.O

I'm also having to explain the difference between absorption under phase 2 and under phase 3. Summer in the minds of managers means more chance to use phase 3 which is all year round and therefore cover sick leave at reduced/zero cost, however summer absorption under phase 2 is taking a delivery and absorbing day in day out for a set period of time with a corresponding increase in annual leave slots to ensure the D.O is not overstaffed.

People need to be aware that if the Manager wants to lapse 20 duties you only have to do it if you have time, lapsing does not mean doing it on overtime, the sooner people stand up and be counted the easier life will become GROW SOME BALLS!

So with the lapsing of duties what happens if the lapsed duty falls in your day off covers job? I.E A postie covers 5 duties per week & 1 of those duties is due to be lapsed. Does said postie carry on as normal or do they have to do other duties on that day??

They get moved to a alternative duty that they are trained for, that is legit under pay and mod 2007. However if he/she was being moved on a regular basis I would consider that a breach of pay and mod 2007. Check out the flexibly agreement for your D.O

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
