Hi there

I am currently persuing a claim against Royal Mail for an accident at work. Did you fill out the accident book. This is most crucial. Every step of the way I have been asked the same question by solicitors, medical specialsts and the CWU. Secondly you must log the accident with the department of work and pensions. Here is the link They then decide that it was an industrial accident. This will help if you ever needed to claim any money from the soical security in the event you couldn not work anymore. Also Royal Mail have an absolutley appalling record for accidents at work. By logging it with the dwp it highlites this fact.

My claim will probably take upto two years. It is being done by Simpson Millar through the union. They foot all bills and fees for specialist medical exams/advice. However, if you leave RM you will still be liable for weekly union fees until the claim has been finalised. How much ? Depends on extent of trauma, any medical procedure you have undergone as a direct result of the accident, the long term prognosis (will it affect you for the rest of your life), did it have any affect on your day to day life (could you still cook, clean, walk the dog or enjoy any activities/ hobbies you would normally have undertaken)and any mental trauma you may have experienced because of the accident.

cheers for that max gain. yes evry thing was logged , be it on a computer now as they dont seem to have the old fashioned accident book!
still in the prelimary stages with claim due to me just coming out from back surgery (RMs fault) i think mine is going to be a long process due to the fact that i wont be able to walk for 6 weeks, then theres the fact i have a scar at the bottom of my back which needs healing plus nerve damage which i have been told could take up to a year before i get full nerves back if at all!!

have been told i might not be able to do my job again and that rm might medically pension me off!! im 37 and i really cant afford to loose my job over something that they have done to me?!what should i do ? what happens if the surgeon when i go back in a few weeks says you will have a permenant loss of this or oh you wont be able to lift X ammount again? i am really scared cos i have a mortgage and family etc . i have been at rm 4 yrs and love the job but is this the end ? ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Dinho.... Mate im 36 and in the same boat.... RM have done the same... And it was over something THEY have done.. In my opinion....

LETS SEE HOW MANY MORE POSTIES WILL BE TREATED THIS WAY AND THE UNIONS STANCE ON IT????

Ive seen a legal bod and my advice would be before the CWU get there arse into gear ask around at a few briefs... Just as an advisory backing... Let the internal wranglings go ahead and GOOD LUCK......

It makes me sick.. Before we are 40 and RM stick us on the scrap heap....
