Pensionable and non pensionable allowance's

I don't know for sure either, as I don't get a shift allowance, but I believe late shift allowance is about £36 pw, and night shift allowance is double that - about £72 pw. The late shift allowance is fully pensionable, but only half the night shift allowance is pensionable (ie same as late shift) unless you have had it continuously since the Way Forward Agreement in 2000, in which case it is fully pensionable.

I'm trying to work out my payment protection under mtsf, which means (if i read the agreement right) both parts of the night shift allowance (pens and non pens) are taken into account. Last time i worked a late shift as a leave reserve I'm sure the late shift payment was split into pens and non pens.

That can't be right. The late shift allowance is fully pensionable.
The night shift allowance used to be fully pensionable until the Way Forward Agreement 2000 which made only half of it pensionable, except for dutyholders who stayed continuously on nights after the WFA.
Are you confusing your split payment with Night Shift allowance which would probably be shown as pensionable and non-pensionable?

Late shift payments are for attendances ending between 2140-0159.
Night shift allowances require 3 hours worked between 2300-0500.

Yes. I think that is correct. Payment protection for night shifts includes both the pensionable and non-pensionable elements (ie the total allowance), at least that is what I understand.

Correct me if I'm wrong - but I think this is not the case. I've seen cases where staff on fixed late-turns 1400-2200 are on the same as someone on fixed nights. MTSF only protects 'pensionable' allowances. 'Substitution payments/non-pensionable' don't apply.

Add it all up (pensionable) then divide by four. Don't include substitution payments. PP will make up the rest - either 69 weeks or 3 years. To what you were on. PP not payable when in receipt of any substitution payment.
