What steps if any did Royal Mail take immediately after the assault on the postie?

The evening after the attack - it was around 10 pm when we got home after being at A and E - Gary's immediate manager came out after a phone call made by me to him, as police were unable to contact royal mail.
A few days later - another manager came out and offered ways that Gary could get back to work but he was off sick and in no fit state to return to work in my opinion.
A week later (roughly) (and all these dates are roughly) the occy health people called him.
Between this and the next event the only person from Royal Mail who kept in touch was Gary's Health and Safety Officer, (also between these 2 events the then managers left or went off sick so occy health closed case as was unable to contact Royal Mail).
I contacted the occy health team myself in roughly Nov/Dec as Gary was getting really depressed and was going to end up not going to work at all.
Thru this his H & S Officer contacted the H and S manager Glynn Strong and we had a meeting and discussed possible options for Garys return to work.
Gary then had 5 councilling sessions and the then new managers kept in contact each week, until Gary returned to work, this was around December time.
This is all roughly so please don't take this a s gospel just as I remember it.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
