It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Branches and representatives will probably be aware that a Census will be carried out this year. This will involve the posting of circa 26 million items across the UK with items due to start moving to Mail Centres and on to Delivery Offices on the 2nd 3rd and 4th March.
Thanks... whens the official completion date? end of that week??
We have been told that delivery starts Mon 7th March and must be completed by Wed 9th at no extra cost to the office.

I see that these items are C4 in size,
if they were C5 they could have been sequenced (but then maybe they would have been too thick to go through the machine),
might have saved a bit of time for delivery staff
the guys and gals at our place are NOT looking forward to these coming in.

:Very Happy

Mine will certainly not be completed by the end of Wednesday 9th if that's going to be their attitude.

Agreed. Just imagine, a normal Wednesday, which is usually bad on packets as is, allied with an extra 25kg worth of census flats. It's not going to be pretty in the slightest. Ideally, they should try and get as many out on Monday and Tuesday as possible. However, even then, on my current walk, it won't be manageable. In terms of the additional workload, I work it out to be approximately an extra 7kg per bag - which, of course, equates to me needing to take out around about two extra pouches. With an increased call-rate as well, it's a long and heavy day . . .

. . . especially as they simply won't bother to prep the walk.

At our office theres no guarantee (anymore) that Tuesdays won'd be heavy either. Union rep says "do what you genuinely can in the time allotted" " if theres too much workload then it won't get delivered... simples"

What about collections? We have been told christmas collections for w/c 14/3/11, so this means an extra 2-3 waves for heavy boxes. Census letters are supposed to be segregated and trayed before being sent to MC. Of cause this is all supposed to be at no cost, we are supposed to have a complete OT ban until April because our region is so over budget
