its in the shitter BECAUSE of managers and bad management. to say work a bit extra for nothing would only be the beginning,,,,,,it would then come to pay cuts. there are some offices running with 3 or 4 managers, when they could be run with only 1. there is far too much bitterness and resentment that has built up over the years towards them, so a hell of a lot of members simply would not work extra for nothing. even at the cost of it going under. how much money were we losing when crozier got his 2million bonus. naah mate, i,de rather put mesel on the dole.[/quote]

Too true,,They are taking the piss already with lapsing IMO...There is always docket on lapsed walks in our office and if noone does it the linos have to ( although you would think someone had shot there mum if they end up doing it !) Sort of begs the question why the walks are they lapsed in the first place if we dont have enough manpower ?? Bad management and to many of em..I dont mind a little bit of "flexibility" but work for nowt..No chance,,thin end of the wedge that is.

exactly let royal mail fail there will always be a postal service just someone elses name will be above the door. Savings to be made then sack all managers and let the business be run by people who know the business and where to be efficient the posties. All management do is hold us up to ransom i.e do more for less whereas they get more for less (prime example someone called in sick today did a couple of spare managers offer to do the round NO! they got us to collapse it instead when we refused they would not let anyone leave till it was covered did not leave office till 10am absolutely ridiculous) i say enough is enough.

Not sure how you would get away with refusing to do lapsing as long as it can be 'done in your duty time'.
Now if it meant you would have to cut off then that's a different thing.

thats just the point when you say there is too much and you will be cutting off or claiming o/t they dont believe you. Me and a colleague have lost so many hours in unpaid overtime and rep does nothing about it. If i met moya greene at my office i would tell her where the business is going wrong did cardiff office really give here such a nice reception as the courier states? i have a hard time beliveing it myself.

Subject:notice to all Unit Reps

It has been brought to my attention that local managers are about to be instructed to introduce a form of revision activity called Financial Concurrence in your office and also put back timescales for revision activity under the Business Transformation 2010 & Beyond.

Financial Concurrence is where the local manager with the assistance of the planners do a form of revision using the agreed tools, and if the savings from that revision do not meet the budgeted savings, then he will attempt to implement a Table-Top revision for the interim period, without releasing any of the benefits agreed within the Business Transformation Agreement.

My advice is that No Rep or Office agree any Financial Concurrence Revision and if necessary use the IR Framework to stop managers ripping out hours from our offices that do not release any benefits to our members.

Reps should remind their managers that by using the agreed IWT and Geo-route Toolkit will be the only possible way they will agree savings and only if that's what the toolkit shows.
Reps should also remind members that it is more imperative now,to do the job properly, stop coming in early, take your full meal entitlement, stop using private cars on delivery and weigh your pouches in line with the matrix. The reason for this is simple, local managers will be instructed to introduce even more lapsing within your office to meet their targeted savings.

Management have been told to 'justify' all temporary contracts in our area with a view to wether more hours could be lasped. All 6 of the TC's in our office have been warned that their contracts may not be renewed including a postman who's two years is nearly up.

Is this as a result of 'financial concurrence"?, all temps in my mate's office have been given their cards.Their contracts will not be renewed after this weekend .

RM must have really thought that we were saving hours upon hours on a daily basis with job and off.

they must have also assumed that giving us vans would mean we could deliver mail at 30mph.

the sequencing machines have saved very little time at your frame and i doubt it offsets the guys wages that are running them.

the truth is that the dutys are taking longer with new working practices and nothing will change that.

the big question is, what now? no amount of tweaking is going to reduce the hours needed putting back into offices and with £2bn invested what do you tell the major shareholder?

For us Andy...for us.
The same story is being repeated elsewhere,HQ knows about it,the clock is ticking as they say.
It's time to put up or shut up...and that goes for members too.

Sorry, I didn't explain myself very well. When I asked if they're going to fight it for you, I meant Delivery Staff in general. I work indoors, so it doesn't affect me directly. So I couldn't really include myself. But that doesn't make me any less p****d off that my Colleagues in Deliveries are being shafted again! :evil/mad

te] Our T/T revision starts next week, we have made up some p/timers to full-time :Applause But we asked for an extra sat off in our waddingtons week off system and this was not included,
we had to save 180hrs and the walkss have been changed quite a lot in some cases. they have been equated out 4hrs 10 mins first letter to last, we normally start ips at 6.30 so have 30 ins to get d2d ready and normally one box and half of sequenced mail which will now have to be done in 15 mins cannot see this going to happen, at present I deliver 407 calls bear in mind my area has long drives and this takes me 4hrs normally I have had another 80 calls on top to deliver and another 63 to prep extra for a SA delivery so I can see a lot of fireworks starting next week when we go live.

I had a lot of business on my old duty and that part of my old duty is going to be a SA that will only be done after the other posties have done there rounds :arrrghhh so can see a lot of complaints coming in.

I have been on my shift week off , so not sure if it is all up to going live as the frames are meant to be changed over this weekend by managment and posties going in to help :arrrghhh

I will just work my time happy days ahead :shhhhh

Why are things going wrong?

It's simple really. Royal Mail put forward their plan for the future and the CWU for whatever reason bought into it.

There was insufficient thought put into the detail, there was insufficient trialling of the systems, there has been an unholy rush to incorporate the DM without first evaluating the results of the existing revisions, the union have failed to monitor the changes and insist that everything is going according to plan when clearly it isn't.

The management are now betwixt and between. They are semi locked into an agreement they no longer want to honour because privatisation is round the corner so they are now trying to mark time and make cuts instead of honouring the agreement.
