Question is folks ,just what is in the dust? Asbestos used to be nice and cuddly , chlorine ,mercury ,wet strength agents ,who knows twenty years down the line? Not me, yet, but lots of carcinogens have been identified

Yes, i've heard daft arguments like that too. Also one that went "If we can reduce the dust then we might only have to TPM the machine every two days" or similar, which would seem to defeat the original purpose of not letting dust build up. As for 5 mins, I would think that as you still have the same area to cover regardless of the amount of dust how would the time taken to do it be less? If my missus hoovers the carpet today and then again tomorrow it'll still take her the same amount of time.

I've seen enough of wcm to know it's a total farce and a big waste of money. All those involved I know are either lazy, blue eyes or just want a handy number. Who's fooling who?

the aim is to reduce tpm time eventually, firstly you will have every man and his dog come in on overtime during the daytime to "deep clean" the machine,you will then be told to keep the part of the machine you are responsible for in tip top clean condition, for example on a monday you may clean the high level & all the stacker, tuesday high level and 4 portions of the stacker, wednesday high level & next 4 portions etc thus reducing tpm time and you start the imp earlier. you will be given a wcm sheet for you to tick off the portions you have cleaned, the afternoon shift will be responsible for setting your area up so that will save more time also. there will probably be a sheet at the end of the imp to track how the previous shift have left your area, if its all set up nice you mark it with a nice green marker pen, if they havent changed your modules for you thats a red marker pen, if the floor has a few elastics on it thats a red mark aswell, also no doubt some acting manager will photo any labels on the floor for evidence against the previous shift (i am not joking), you will also be given sheets to fill out on the feeding desk,you will be using your pens to track throughput,jams, engineer call outs etc..you must then set up the area for the next shift or else you will be given red marks against you and once again some brown nose will photo the evidence have fun its all bollox

ive seen 20 managers & brown noses deep clean a machine and it didnt make a blind bit of difference to the machines capability, just cost a fortune in overtime, its just a point for you to start and continue from imo..god knows what happens to dust that doesnt settle, ask your wcm brown nose, perhaps they will have the answer my machine runs better dirty

Do you think mangers "foster a sense of pride" in working for RM?Or do you think its more a case of "f@ck the shift before me,f@ck the shift after me" and "As long as i have the staff to clear my area f@ck the other area's"?Its not a question of opg's not giving a toss,but of everyone in the MC,bar the ones in the "wcm club" not giving a toss.Its the British mentality you have to change,and that ain't happening overnight,if at all,ever...

Well, the Afternoon Shift in our MC leaves the Mech Area in a right state EVERY night which we have to clean up before we can start...

However, that's ok, because the Afternoon WAM is OUR WAM's best (and footballing buddy) mate...

Who can say? But I can say that "the protestant work ethic" is not part of the Japanese national psyche as portrayed in western media. Factory workers were enforceably conscripted and housed in locked down compounds during the Tokugawa shogunate

Yep, and the UK had kids down the mines and working in factories too, but I don't suppose any of those historical events cause the Japs to consider those MC knuckle-draggers in a better light, or help them to understand why abuse and vandalism should be such an essential part of some MC staff's lives.
