Re: Finishing work early...
I've always been under the impression that your contracted for eight hours a day(or pro rata)rather than forty hours a week,so this banking of hours is complete nonsense. However,i think your manager would be within his rights to hold you in the premises till your finishing time(if feeling petty enough) ,apart from insisting he do the same with everyone else i don't think there's much you could do about that!

Don't forget the 2007 P&M agreement, you can be ASKED to work over your time for 30 mins but this must be given back to you in the same week, so you are still working 40 hours.DemonPostie wrote:Now, it doesn't apply so much at the moment, but I have a quick question...
If you finish, say, an hour early on Monday, can the boss ask you to make it up on tuesday?
I don't think so, but what is the OFFICIAL line on this?
It happens all the time in my office, and since I've just been voted Union Rep, I'd quite like to put a stop to it...

We've been out at the gate over that one during last years IA when the M/C was on strike and we had no mail.
"Since there is no mail and you'll all finish early today we want half an hour back later in the week" said the DOM.
"Like f**k" we said...and on went the jackets.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Ask your DOM for a copy of any local agreements that might be in place!
