I am not sure though that this is such a really good advert for any potential buyers. So who would want to buy a loss making company for around £8 billion pounds.

say 25 million items a week. a 2.5 p loss on each item!
thats a lot of money !!
hmmm
Id say of my 430 call rural
on a daily basis at least 500 items of dsa easy and thats just letters.
Ive never thought of it before but take that as an average, x the number of rounds in my office x all the other rounds in the land.

Re: RM Press release on profit fall
Anyone else hear the stories about RM wanting to move to a 3 day week letters delivery but retain a 6 day week parcel delivery?
Customers would have the option of paying a premium to maintain a 6 day week letters delivery.
Just hearsay...

Probably Chinese whispers as I think some Postal Operators on the continent are looking at that and even the USPS mooted it at one point.pickaname wrote:Anyone else hear the stories about RM wanting to move to a 3 day week letters delivery but retain a 6 day week parcel delivery?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

So mail volumes hit an all-time high in 2005 and yet in 2007 Hooper was asked to investigate the decline of the postal service.... If only the government had displayed such remarkable foresight when dealing with the banks.
