No bother, Belle - I was in the dark myself - however since reading the article, I realise in some cases the Dilbert Principle will apply, viz those that are restrictive to the productive flow are promoted up out of harm's way ( usually into middle management ) - for those that are crap as postmen, their initial promotion to management has taken place ( but like a lot of RM projects ), further movement has since stalled

Neither had I, but reading the wiki articles, and following on with some of the links is proving very enlightening and rewarding ( just a shame HR doesn't seem to have taken the lessons onboard

Its called promotion to match your level of incompetence. The more incompetent your are the higher in the chain you go.

It does not matter if a Dom is good or bad,what matters is what the DSM thinks.

So you can have a god manager,who has complied with every Thing acheived as many savings as possible but DSM thinks their are a lot more savings to be made !

Our office,a DOM lasts max 1 year MAX,some will hide the true figures,and hope they dont get caught ,but nearly always do,so booted out ,others tell the whole truth to DSM ,he thinks they are not up to the job so gets booted out.
Not a great advert for a job,why do so many Doms have stress and alcol problems ,due to DSM ,

You have to be very brave or foolish to be a DOM.

Ive had bad managers who were bullies and quite good ones as well, but whoever is pulling strings above is running the office.

Foolish, well no not these days with the bonuses that are being paid It a few of us who are the foolish ones by coming in early, not taking a break and of course using private cars

we had 1 that failed his PHG exam 3 times,so they made him a manager,now i could be wrong but i think he had to take his socks off to count above 10
