Re: rumour mill, its all cwu fault
I have come to the conclusion that we are being so badly run that even a private company will not be able to pull us back from the abyss.

Re: rumour mill, its all cwu fault
I'm telling you dv I'm sick of hearing it " my walks not prepped, I've got six D2Ds, my shoes have fell to pieces, I can't get a day off to go to my mums funeral, I haven't been payed any overtime for six weeks, I've been put on a stage for breaking my neck falling off my bike . . . . ."
I don't know what these people expect.
Honestly . . Bring back the birch!

Re: rumour mill, its all cwu fault
Contary to rummours Royal Mail by and large believe that there has been a good levels of co-orperation with the agreement.
However the agreement has not gone as quick as they would have liked. But its not down to us that is the reason for the delay.
Royal Mail have a cash flow issue which is not unusual as Royal Mail is at the peak of its investment programme. The company is drawing down on its 1.2 billion loan from the government and is spending 300 million pounds per year servicing the pension defecit.
Whilst Royal Mail made an operating profit last year they made a negative net profit value which basically means they paid out more than they recieved after paying for everything. However the transformation agreement and buisness plan always was about making a profit in year 3.
Profits are down on last year and it looks like Royal Mail will not meet its targets. However this main slippage is not just down to revisons but that customers are downtrading and switching to cheaper Royal Mail products for example Mailsort 3 has reduced by 31 millon per year , mail sort 2 by 438 million per year. Downstream access increased last year by 20%.
Whilst there is a lot of noise around traffic recording and we seem to have a MIST system which misses the mail which is increasing as a result of Royal Mail`s bagless network the fact is single piece mail is decling due to emails etc. Retail bulk mail is decling quicker by 30% and downstream access is growing by 21%.
Special delivery items and packets and parcels is growing by 7% and Royal Mail is capturing more of the unaddressed market.
Now the issues which are holding up revisons are the folowing
Disagreements on the model week
Issues with the default postion on 100BSi
Royal Mail`s upper decile pack which is 70 pages and records loads of different performance measures and its like a game of snakes and laders where you might be in the upper decile on one and on another in the relegation zone. The pack is very confusing and unless you pythagorous it does not make sense but it is what will drive Royal Mail`s performance measure system going forward.
Some areas are moving forward ok for example the Norht East which used to have 55/45 ratio of full time to part time jobs have nowgot a target of 70% full time staff as they have agreed to go to a longer span in order to make more part staff full time.
So the agreement is not falling apart , of course there are issues in some areas but theres never been a national agreement which did not have issues.
The CWU are only guilty of trying to get the best deal in each office.

Can you elaborate Dingo has there been a signed agreement to the fact that the North East will have a 70/30 split if they agree to longer del spans. And what is the length of span for this to happen and will every office have the opportunity to vote for such a split even ones that have already gone through revisions and agreed longer del spans with not a single extra FT post being created.

You've got to hand it to management , they can keep their sense of humour whilst shafting the rest of us. "Fog" would be too obvious but "mist" can be just as deceiving or even 'missed'. Pound of flesh and a piss take to bootwe seem to have a MIST system which misses the mail which is increasing

Re: rumour mill, its all cwu fault
The North East have a policy to increase full time jobs as there part time staff want a full time job. This basically means they lose jobs overall but increase the amount of full time jobs. In the main they have agreed where delivery methods have been deployed 4 hours 30 mins however on average because replishment time and relax breaks are included in the 4 hours 30 mins then in reality the delivery span is less than 4 hours.
Branch`s have agreed and off course offices will have a vote on their own local revision.
It may not be for everyone but the members will decide.

Re: rumour mill, its all cwu fault
Thanks for that Dingo.
Very illuminating, rather like a 2 watt bulb. When you say co-orperation is that a mixture of cooperation and corporation as in privatised corporation
70 Pages long, upper decile, loads of different thingys, getting the best deal, Pythagoras Theorem and utter bullshit.

What's a relax break dingo...isn't that just meal relief...what if the members want to take it before they leave the office or when they come back..will they have a 4hrs 10min delivery span instead.
Replenishment isn't a break........ stop trying to make it sound like one.
These are 4.30min deliveries first to last letter....end of story.

Despite the much vaunted 75/25 FT/PT split what the NE are aiming for is a target of 70% but with job losses

Re: rumour mill, its all cwu fault
Let's look at this sensibly...
If you use park&loop with a trolley it will add approx 30mins to a walking delivery just physically pulling the thing around with you...then your 20min "relax" break and then there is "replenishment" time so that's roughly an hour and takes you back to your original 3hrs 30min delivery span so no need for any extra streets really.
So...i'll open it to the floor...has anybody who has seen the new park&loop deliveries came across any that haven't had anything added to them?.........
