None, but then the majority of the office was gone by 9.10, and usually thats the case.

Re: How much mail did you bring back today ?
Obviously if there is a problem whilst out on delivery you can phone and ask for guidance, if you originally thought you were going to complete but now don't think you can.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Depends on 2 things:clashcityrocker wrote:I thought you were supposed to inform your manager before leaving the office - so you don't take it instead of bringing it back.
How do you take 4/5 bags of mail back?
1. Local agreements and arrangements.
2. That nothing went wrong on delivery (such as late replenishment, late conveyance, accident, incident etc).
There is a section in the integrity of mail stuff that deals with being unable to complete once delivery has commenced.
But the original post talks of first letter at 12 and cut off at 2.
Obviously they knew when they left the office they were not going to complete. So why take all those bags out and bring them back?
And how do you carry 40-50kg of mail back?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I agree with CCR.
You shouldn't take out what you don't PLAN to deliver.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Correct procedure is to leave it in the office before you leave.
But you have got to have "the watnots" to tell your Dom

The correct procedure is NOT to leave it in the office, whatnots or not.gb93 wrote:Correct procedure is to leave it in the office before you leave.

Saying that it seems to be down to if the screw got a screw the night before.
Some tell you to leave it,some tell you to take it all out and do what you can, which is what we do at our place.

Re: How much mail did you bring back today ?
How do you know what you'll have time to do before you go out? I always take it all, inform my manager before that I may have to cut off depending on time, then usually ring them towards the end of my round and let them know if there's any I don't have time to deliver.
If I tell them I can only do so much before I leave the office, things might go smoother than I thought and I may have time to do another few bundles. Not possible if I haven't brought all the bundles out with me is it? On the contrary I might have told him I can do x amount but may not even have time to complete what I said I could do.
You never know how much you can deliver until you get out on the actual delivery. So you have no idea how much you can deliver. All you know is what time you are due to finish work regardless of whether all the mail is delivered.

You must work in a nice area.
If the kids around here got wind of that there wouldn't be much to collect in the morning.

Re: How much mail did you bring back today ?
you inform your manager, before leaving the office, that due to mail volumes and lack of bodies on inward sorting, caused by part time staff not having to sort, and full time staff having to double prep the part timers rounds as well as the lapsed duties and that by the time you get to your first del point it will be about 12 o clock, leaving you 2 hours to complete a 4 hour delivery and you wont be working over your time. There may be a problem completing your duty. (of course the manager already knows this he is the manager but you still have to do it) he will not tell you to leave some behind as there is no one else to deliver it you might have to take it out the next day. Having done all the right things I drive off (in my RM Combo) and return 10mins before my finishing time.clashcityrocker wrote:I thought you were supposed to inform your manager before leaving the office - so you don't take it instead of bringing it back.
