No, it's time to learn how to be SAFE drivers! The current penalty for speeding (3 points and a fine), is hardly a deterrant (you can be caught 4 times before you loose your license!). But risking a disciplinary too, might just stop the arrogant fools, putting lives in danger!wolfie citizen smith wrote:once the trackers are put in all vehicles RM will know how fast drivers were going anyway. time to learn how to be a sunday driver
The fact is, that although speding doesn't CAUSE accidents (except in extreme cases). It DOES make the impact more severe, increasing the risk of serious injuries and death.
Also, there's a BIG diffrence between sticking to speed limits, and being a Sunday Driver. The former, is taking your responsibilities as a driver seriously, and protecting other road users. And the latter, is pottering about, being indecisive, and causing a hazard to other road users.

Re: speeding drivers = conduct code
Andy 2007 , i feel suitably chastised,i accept that, although i would rather not, have broke the speed limits due "job pressure" which is a piss poor excuse. I posted this thread thinking (wrongly) that people would be surprised that we ALSO face disciplinary action as well as legal, for allowing R.M. the hire of our driving licence. Lesson learned, no chance of me speeding.
Now, the other thing..............the poor lad is angry, sad, frustrated and shocked that after faultless service, he is going to have a record due to an unknown person phoning and complaining, his side if the case being totally ignored. Guys, n gals, i am outraged that we suffer this brutal management prejudice, hung without trial, i really hope some others feeel as strongly, could be you or me tomorrow.

The unknown person phoning and complaining is probably a RM manager. An easy way to get people on the conduct code route.

Re: speeding drivers = conduct code
I'd appeal that conduct code charge about the customer phoning up. It could be someone with a grudge against the guy. The guy could've been a menace to road users himself and was being overtaken because it was dangerous not to.
Unless there's actual proof of something, no conduct charges can be brought IMO.

Re: speeding drivers = conduct code
The only proof that a manager needs to show is that a genuine complaint has been lodged by a customer.Aprilaydee wrote: Unless there's actual proof of something, no conduct charges can be brought IMO.
After that "reasonable assumption" of the facts of the case are all that is necessary for the conduct code.
Sad,infuriating,unfair....but ultimately true.
Edit..By "geniune", I don't mean whether the complainant was telling the truth or not, this is irrelevant as it is unlikely it can ever be proved one way or the other.

So Naive, Proof or Facts rarely play any part in a conduct code decision.Aprilaydee wrote: unless there's actual proof of something, no conduct charges can be brought IMO.

Re: speeding drivers = conduct code
What happened to your collegue, is a different situation entirely. I have no sympathy whatsoever for speeders being caught, as one of my relatives lost her best friend to one. Not that the speeding caused the accident. But her friend would almost certainly have survived, if the p***k who hit her, wasn't doing nearly double the speed limit!seanocelt wrote:Andy 2007 , i feel suitably chastised,i accept that, although i would rather not, have broke the speed limits due "job pressure" which is a piss poor excuse. But your collegue is the victim of an apparently malicious, and certinly unsubstantiated complaint. So I have a great deal of sympathy for him. Is there no way that his previously faultless record, could be used to argue against the accusation from the member of the Public?
If not. Why not!

That's right. As a cyclist very nearly killed some years ago by a speeding motorist i've no time for all those arrogant car drivers who think motoring laws aren't real legislation that doesn't apply to them.

And I suppose all cyclists are angels are they ?, riding on pavements, going the wrong way down one way streets, crossing on red pelican crossings, perhaps cyclists need to realise that road laws also apply to them. And for the record, 40 years clean licence.Lounge Lizard wrote:That's right. No, as one not to generalise, I wouldn't suggest that at allsingingpostman wrote:And I suppose all cyclists are angels are they ?, riding on pavements, going the wrong way down one way streets, crossing on red pelican crossings, perhaps cyclists need to realise that road laws also apply to them. Re: speeding drivers = conduct code
What's happened about the disciplinary?
Has the Manager taken the Driver's prevously clean record into account, when weighing up the odds of the complaint being valid. Or was it a whitewash?
If it was a whitewash, has the Driver made an appeal?
Like I said earlier: If the complaint WAS valid, then I'd have no sympathy for him. But judging by what's been posted on here. It sounds like there's a sigificant possibility that it was a malicious compaint. In which case, it would be very wrong for him to be disciplined.

Glad to hear that your collegue isn't being disciplined for a possibly maliciou complaint. As for the ther guy... Well if he was speeding, then sorry. But I've no sympathy for him.

Re: speeding drivers = conduct code
been there with another Union .....it's to create a culture of fear and there's an element of union busting too , Managers get brownie points for being " customer focussed " if Joe Public makes bitchy malicious and vexatious complaints .....BS ....yeah ......butandy2007 wrote:What's happened about the disciplinary?![]()

There's a element of divide and conquer....... get staff shopping staff from down the road , they love that , can tell all sorts of horror stories , managers hiding behind bushes , one got the sack because a manager on annual leave liked playing with his new camcorder toy . The union got him back because the evidence was inadmissible , they got him again ...some people never learn .
Used to be dutiful manager's wives and girlfriends too with us
With RM there will be a lot of surplus managers going to pathetic lengths to justify their jobs
MURDERERS. Need to dispose of a body? Simply parcel it up and post it to yourself via DHL. You will never see it again.
