The only good thing is Park and Loop is around the corner and I can then become a non driver in a dynamic duo of crapness with some other worker who can still drive with a disability as they like to keep the cripps together incase we might take to much medication and go postal.

Re: NO INSURANCE? NO CAR! JUSTICE!!
I think people need to be extra careful when they insure their car to make really sure they are in fact COVERED for business use for Royal Mail, remember RM are only covering the mail not yourself. It only takes a phone call to check. For example when I had a tuning box fitted to my car you could simpley select that option on the on-line webpage but as mine is an adjustable boost i took the time and double checked only to find out i would not have been covered . One phone call and £27 later and I am totally legal but without checking I would not have been insured so could have been screwed.
Insurance companies are notorious for worming out of claims and coverage issues so you really need to speak to an advisor and spell it out as to how you will be using your car in association with Royal Mails cover and make sure you can actually obtain the correct policy on what is most likley a non commercial vehicle. Others wise you may end up having your car seized due to lack of insurance cover and points with a fine on top.

Police Interceptors last night (Channel 5 8pm) stop a suspicious looking bloke coming out of a gate. Follows the car down the street and it turns out to be a postie with a boot full of mail. It also turns out he's disqualified from driving and doesn't have business use insurance on his car. Chumpster gets nicked for both offences and has to empty the mail out on to the pavement whilst his car is seized by the Police. No voice over saying 'It was found that he was covered by Royal Mail's insurance', just BOSH! you're nicked!!

Re: NO INSURANCE? NO CAR! JUSTICE!!
General why are you not covered by DDA this way your duty would be ring fenced and R/M would have to accommodate a duty closer to your D/O .
Do you get an allowance from R/M for using your own car. Now when i was a driver we all had cards for petrol stations that were allocated to the reg of the van you drove, have you one of these tagged to your car or do you buy your own bubble. One last question R/M vans get serviced obviously by R/M, if you breakdown in an R/M vehicle said vehicle is picked up and repaired at no extra cost to your good self so have you an agreement with DOM to have your own vehicle picked up and repaired by R/M or would you have to stump up your own cash if the worst happened, only asking these questions out of curiosity.

Now you're just being sensible. Don't you know that the non-drivers on here who've never had a car or rung an insurance company know far more about it than you?krussel wrote:I think people need to be extra careful when they insure their car to make really sure they are in fact COVERED for business use for Royal Mail, remember RM are only covering the mail not yourself. We weretold in a team talk that, if you have an accident in a post van THEN YOU MUST INFORM YOUR INSURANCE OF THE ACCIDENT or your own insurance will be null and void .
