it is more likely to tear a cartilage walking up and down steps, as that is a constant momentum day in day out
Wrong!..........The two most common causes of a meniscus tear are due to traumatic injury (often seen in athletes) and degenerative processes (seen in older patients who have more brittle cartilage). The most common mechanism of a traumatic meniscus tear occurs when the knee joint is bent and the knee is then twisted.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

My "tear" years ago, was caused by guy being thrown into me during Judo session, Tuesday.

Compounded by another guy hitting the same leg, opposite side, Aikido, on the Friday.

Knee bent, trauma x 2.

Classic meniscus tear, though very painful, minor...ish.

Athroscopy/scrape a while later stopped the knee locking.

maybe it be good if she can appeal and the truth comes out, and find out exactly what went on and where.
Unlikely - attempts were made to contact her via the posties solicitor. The court itself would have sent a summons to her address advising her why and when she needed to appear.

My guess is she thought it would go away and ignored everything to do with it. It didn't and therefore the case was uncontested and the postie wins. As this followed the normal process it is unlikely that she has any grounds for an appeal.

Also, again my own opinion, the postie hearing or not hearing a growl would not be the basis for this case, neither is the type of injury. Only the fact that an injury/accident did occur and was the owner/householder liable because of any act or omission on their part directly lead, or had a substantial influence on it.

Not fixing a large crack in the pavement would in my humble opinion come under this, and even if they postie was aware of it it does not matter, anyone else not aware of it could have had the same accident so she had a responsibility to address or rectify the situation, which it appears she did after the event.

In essence there was a hole, she should have sorted, she didn't and an accident happened.
