Ello Fossiebear And Rocky.. Im bothered as u both must be to how long the B&H cases take,, Mine Took nearly 3 years up to date and still no end in site? RM seem to cover up everything, (the facts) and fabricate as they wish, any letters, diary notes i took over my time under stress and haressment seemed to be swept away as ME bringing the claim in bad faith, (when i asked for "bad faith" To be explained, i was quoted from the WAY FORWARD!!! RM & at times CWU'S answer to everything, Never was i challenged on my claim , just "UR GUILTY" This was @ my appeal.. Which supposed to be independent??? A royal mail Manager Who's job that was normally, Sackings.@ Appeal, after a RTU.. The person came from another function as RM & CWU agree should do, But as there job was to see Postman Sacked under appeal.. I was treated the very same way. GUILTY un till proven innocent!! I brought this up @ the time.

I do agree with the comment of EVR'S being worn out then We should look closely over our shoulders, a very wise point. In my case ive bein looking for 9 months since my Appeal found me being under the code of conduct and could be sacked thru following CWU advice in good faith, Take out a H&B/greivence against RM in my cases! But now RM have called CWU'S bluff WE___ seem 2 be with out any, balls!!!CWU wont take up my case as even if the proof of malpractise of the IR framework has been used and me and others have been used as guinie pigs!! Or up sh*t creek with out a union paddle!!

The fact U Fossiebear had a person make claims after so long and had out side problems as u say £££! I feel for you if the claims where false, I really do because any claim that is wrong and done to spite or to lay blame is totally out of order!!

In East London, This is not uncommon, Out of 7 work mates in my old area 3 are long term sick, (including myself) 2 left the job after 18 & 17 years of loving it! And couldnt stand the bullying any more..1 gone manager in another office or trying to.So he can try and make a difference..? And 1 who is seeing out 30+ years service and @ retiring soon. Now this is the face of "A GREAT PLACE TO WORK!" This is where WE are really at!!! Over 100 years given to RM (IN GOOD FAITH) And they treat US like this!!! It makes me sick when i see our Bosses speak to the public, like we are all Militant loons wanting to attack RM & the customers service!! I feel like leaving!!! BUT Y SHOULD I? when ive been subjected to the style of Management seen back in the victorian times!!
As u can tell i will use this place to rant and get my feelings out as it costs US nothing and RM cant stop US, if w keep within the law that is??? OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You might not think this is funny, but I coul have become the assistant HR person at East London. I knew the then Area Manager and he tried to bring me over, but I was offered a job in Head Office for the same money and not have to travel so far. It was a difficult choice but probably the right one in the end.

I found it quite amazing that the style of ops management and union 'management' isn't much different. It's great that people look out for each other, but if you're in then things get fudged.

I had been a frontline manager for not very long and I screwed up. A Postie cut-off and I allowed a bag of mail to be left in a block of flats. By rights I should have been done, but somehow the management (and the union reps!) fudged the issue. The postie (a young lad but quite feisty and not great mates with the reps) basically got shafted.

I got on well with the postie and saw that inside he was actually quite talented and if his energy was directed the right way could do OK for himself. The system ground him down, he tried knocking my block off once, and then attempted to secretly record management saying stuff, but was found out and ultimately dismissed.

These and so many other reasons was why I got out of there. The pay in the centre of Royal Mail goes something like this:

EL2 = 120 postmen
EL2 = Project Support Manager

The first option you can arrive at work at 6am in the morning, get physically abused and intimidated for attempting to try and do the right thing, get investigated 18 months after leaving the post, ruin your own suits, deliver post in all weather etc....

Second option: Work in Head Office and other non-ops buildings, arrive at 9ish, not work any Saturday's, never even think about getting attacked, get things done when you need them (got refused one extra computer internet point in our DO, even though I had a work laptop, but instead they said no and 4 of us shared one computer for over 100 posties, genius) I drop a coffee over my laptop, but because I worked for an exec. it got fixed the same day! Access to decent canteens (even though they say they all offer the same food)

I think you get my drift, yet the HR execs in Royal Mail disagreed with my assessment and even Tom Melvin (Ops Director) agreed with me!

I will defend things RM have done and do when they make sense, but some of the thinking was way out.

Na it dont bother me one bit what job you do as long as your fair and correct of how you implement the RM WAYFORWARD as WE all have to work under it!! (OR DO WE?) We both know this Old Manager of East London then, Well hope he treated you better than Me if its the person in the job down in E1 and not E3?
I respect every man/woman who wants to strive and earn in Our job but its all in the person and if that person has any values and morals??? I must seem to be a Nut nut but i hear you when you say about your time under investigation must of been really bad for you, I know about D.O.'s as i worked in A Eastern D.O. 5 yrs. I think DOSSED work is bad for ALL.. Shame U got done!! At least now uve got a good job,, I might doss some letters n u can find a job for me... Na good luck to ya Fossie. Joking aside, @ least you know whats it like to be falsely blamed and then in my case RM still want me OUT!! I will fight them as i know deep down im right!! My only course is to get a brief and pay for it as the CWU r SH*T! SORRY but thats my opinon!!! OUT!! DONT LET THE BASTARDS GRIND YOU DOWN...................

Now this is the state WE are in!!! " WHO IS THE REP " Full stop and what do they do, in the bigger picture????? All good men AND women, BUT when you see EX Union Reps making a career move with the Goverment and a fine job as well!!! It goes to show you the "jobs for the boys" is alive and kicking in our wonderful C.W.U.
Sorry but when you get a C.W.U. Area Rep walk out of MY Appeal of a Harresment and bullying case i had against Management in my office and was found down the pub while i had too get a Rep from another source I think ALL of you too would be bitter and sad AND mainly upset!!!!!! Equality??? Well I quote George Orwell.. "SOME ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS!!!
Needless to say i lost my Appeal.. AND ROYAL MAIL in there wisdom found to then put me under the Code of conduct, BUY and i Quote, "Making claims in bad faith." ???? I never got a answer what "Bad faith " ment, after 9 months of waiting for a Answer!!! Just UR GUILTY!!! :Confused ....

Hey, tommo, as a newcomer to this site I've just read your spleen venting above. Just a comment about "IN BAD FAITH" and what it means. In general terms it's Royal Mail's way of trying to deter the uniform grades from putting grievance's and B&H complaints in against managers. Because when in the 99.9% of the time they are not upheld they obviously conclude that the Postman was making it up all along hence "in bad faith" they then attempt to use the Conduct Code for having the audacity to make such scandalous remarks about all them nice managers who would never do the same thing to us because they are too busy polishing their halo's and ego's. And you thought that Equal Opportunities was about treating everybody the same! just goes to show how wrong you can be sometimes hey
