Spoke to my mate today (hes a LM at my office, good bloke), he and another LM had been sent up to Southend for the past 2 days to cover walks. Apparently that office has'nt got enough convey buses to take everyone out, RM have been relying on Southend posties to use there cars for a long time. Why arn't the tools in place? More cost cutting no doubt!
How many other offices have'nt got the 'tools' in place and how much have they saved RM?
Well done Southend posties to finally putting your foot down. :Applause
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

If only we could get this nationwide - one bloke from my office suggested a work to rule - this from a guy who comes in to work at 3.40 for a 5 a.m. start, uses his car and takes out all his bags - I said why don't you do it now and he had no response - the dick head.

The Watford guys are doing this as well, chaos there,Managers galore called in the first day it happened, got casuals in Friday to dig 'em out the sh1te and pulled collection drivers off their lunch time collectios to help out as well.

The SDD was implemented in such a rush, its clear its not been thought out properly, the tools aint their to do the job,not enough vans/drivers/pouch box's.......far to many managers.

It'll be be good for our cause if other office's follow suit and go out in the vans.

Posties complain of ‘intimidation

Post by TrueBlueTerrier »

From the Southend Echo

http://www.echo-news.co.uk/news/local/d ... dation.php

A ROW has broken out at a Royal Mail sorting office over claims of "intimidating" tactics by managers.

Members of the Communication Workers' Union, who are involved in a national dispute over pay and working conditions, have accused the Royal Mail of being heavyhanded by sending more than 30 managers to the depot in Short Street, Southend, this week.

Kev Martin, area delivery rep, said: "They bused in 30-plus managers to keep an eye on us. They have been following postmen on their rounds and have even taken some deliveries out themselves in their own private cars, which they are not insured to do."

Postmen have been working to rule - not doing any overtime and ensuring they take their breaks.

Mr Martin said: "This is not a go-slow. We aren't being difficult. It's just we are not coming in early anymore. We would come in an hour early to get on top of things and that was unpaid. Now we aren't doing that, it is pandemonium."

Bob Gibson, national officer for the union, added: "Royal Mail have been turning a blind eye to health and safety regulations and insurance matters.

"The way we are being treated is disgraceful. It is intimidating."

Posties also claim some rounds are coming back not delivered, as untrained casual staff have been brought in and do not know their routes.

A statement from Royal Mail said: "Royal Mail is simply maintaining customer service in Southend.

"No additional managers have been recruited.

"However, as always, we place our resource where it is needed to ensure mail deliveries are maintained.

"Furthermore, Royal Mail has a zero tolerance to any forms of bullying and harassment."

Comments:

1. This is not the first time this has happened,i worked there for 14 years and any time we worked to rule, like not coming in earlier or not taking breaks, the management got heavy handed with us.The posties are only doing the job properly ,but the management dont like it.

2. And us inviting people to Join - nice one POSTMAN

the same in our office all the guys/gals bleating about the strike and moaning that we should be working to rule instead of losing money

my response put yer money where your mouth is and start doing it now and if we continue supporting the planned strike action and if we all work to our 318 then the quicker this IA will be resolved

they have a whinge turn round and jump in there overloaded cars and drive out of the yard
