So I take it from whats been written on here that I wont be getting 1 in 4 Saturdays then!!!!!

Lets get this right everyone will get the opportunity to have a least 1 in 4 Saturdays. The reason it has the majority is that Royal Mail have a significant number of part timers who only work Saturdays and of course you cant offer them 1 in 4 off. Plus there may be some of the workforce who want to continue to work the wallington system (1 week off in 6 ),

However all the regional directors plus the National negotators know what has been agreed. I have met both the London and the Thames Valley regional directors and they know that one in 4 is the trade for having the changes on Saturdays.

All Local reps will have a full workshop run by the divisional reps and will have on-going support so the agreement is applied in every office in the right way.

Mucker dont listen to your DOM. Delivery office managers get told to do things from their bosses and they will be told. Plus it is a complete nonsense to suggust you cannot have one in four in a 40 person office , just look in London we have offices with 1 in 3 which only have 12 walks.

The reality of the situration is that in a 40 person office to get a four day week you will have to fund an additional rest day covering by putting 5 duties into four. That will get you one in three saturdays off. Or you have to fund an additional rest day cover in every 9 duties for a nine day fortnight.

It can be achieved and the menu of options will show you how.

Stop spinning the agreement everyone knows why it states the majority. It also says one in four for rest day covers and reserves.

The agreement is in and its time you starting trying to figure out how you can get the best from it.

The menu of options has been sent to Royal Mail for their agreement , the manager who is covering for Michael Stockdale Head of deliveries who has sadly a serious illness was on leave last week and hopefully this will be agreed this week. Bob Gibson has set out the menu of options to divisional reps and they have sent them out to area reps.

The following options are included in them

1. 2 in 6 Saturday`s off in a rotating day off system with a short day on tuesday. The hours per day apart from Tuesday are 8.30

2. 2 in 6 saturday`s off in wallington system ( 1 week off in 6. ) 48.30 working week.

3. Wallington plus 1 week off in six with a short week as well.

4. 2 rotating full time 4 and half day duties with fixed part time cover ( saturday plus monday ) one in every two saturdays and monday off. 8.30 hour day.

5. 2 in in 6 1 in 3 saturdays off in 5 day rotating day off system. 8.5 hour days.

6. 4 day weeks on 3 week week rotation covering two deliveries all full time duties. 10 hour day.

7. 4 day duty doing extra prep of part time duties has 1 in 3 saturdays off. ( 10 hour days )

8. 9 day fortnight option 6 plus 3. This option allows for one in four saturdays off but every 4 weeks you get Thursday , Friday , Saturday , Monday , Tuesday and Wednesday off in a row. 8 hour 45 day.

9, 9 day fortnight option 5 plus 4. this option gives you one in three saturdays off. Once every 4 weeks you get Friday , Saturday and monday off in a row. 8.45 hour days.

So the menu will explain this options and of course your divisonal and area rep will assist

In short you have to fund the new duties in the same way as you did the five day week but i think everyone will say that no one would now want to go back to six day working and from experience i know that once indivduals get a 4 day week they never want to give it up. All be it some do need convincing in the first place to go to a four day week. But hey some needed convincing to stop working 6 days.

However it may have changed since but it will give you an idea.
