It would create a conflict of interests, if you needed help with a disciplinary issue. Particularly if you needed to put a grevance in against the Manager.

How would joining the Manager's Union help any of us?
Dvbuk55, don't you realise that the CMA is part of Unite?

Re: Is this agreement the CWU suicide note.
PCS is the only alternative I can see, we may even end up merging with them given our long since consigned to the history books status as civil servants.
Dont give up new faces have put in for PEC elections this year and conference is just around the corner. The postal conference and in paticular the RML section of conference will be lively, no doubt with some very passionate debates.
Policy can be made, ditched and altered at conference, who knows what CWU policy might become in two months time

Oh ye of little faith Andy - what about the new relationship between management and workforce, the new mutal admiration society that is about to burst forth with this agreement - there will be no need for confrontation - or am I being misled?andy2007 wrote:Dvbuk55, don't you realise that the CMA is part of Unite?![]()

But seriously. Even if we had a wonderful relationship with Management. It would still be a conflict of interests, if there was a problem. The same Union can't effectively fight for both sides at the same time. Because they'd be forced to fight against one of their own members. But there ARE alternatives, if you look for them. For example: PCS, IWW, GMB. There's probably a lot more, that I don't know about. Although personally, I'm sticking with the CWU.

Let us not forget even managers get bullied and that imparts upon us all at the end of the day!. I would rather be in a union whoever it encompasses than be the sum union of one :cfo and all for them-self :cfoandy2007 wrote:LMFAO!dvbuk55 wrote:Oh ye of little faith Andy - what about the new relationship between management and workforce, the new mutal admiration society that is about to burst forth with this agreement - there will be no need for confrontation - or am I being misled?andy2007 wrote:Dvbuk55, don't you realise that the CMA is part of Unite?![]()

Sorry if I gave the impression that it was all one sided. Although it would still create the same conflict of interests, if a Manager was accusing a Postie of B&H. That's why we have separate Unions for Managers and Posties.
IMHO it has nothing to do with which Union it is. Just making sure that there aren't any conflicts of interest, to muddy the waters.

Mcboing I'm going to start wearing a tinfoil hat - that was uncanny - perfectly true of course - each would be represented by a different rep. There is actually a benefit if you think about it, rather than be vying to be proved the better of the two unions it would in fact engender a compromise solution which maybe less punitive in the long run.mcboing boing wrote:andy2007 wrote:Dvbuk55, don't you realise that the CMA is part of Unite?![]()
