this post has near enough told it how it is ! well done for the list , when i started 10 yrs ago the way forward was just kicking in and that was the begining of the end many old boys said ! were they right , in many ways yes - the royal mail delibrately wasted ££££ on the new name of consignia and then ££££££ to change it back ?? why oh why was this a big cover up to waste cash in the business ? i mean how many big companies change there names ! anyway well done this list that pees you off made me chuckle and im sure many of us can relate to it ! - as for people on here saying get another job then the answer is if you can find a better job that will train you and offer learning ,skills e.t.c. TAKE IT ! when i joined the job was easier (sometimes over easy !) but now it is STUPID hard and it looks like getting worse and worse - for most of us it was a dream job with the chance to earn overtime (if you wanted to ) or possibly train up on other skills i.e. postman higher grade , lm,dom e.t.c. or even i remember get your hgv licence ! where and why has this all gone ?? its not just rm its spreading fast everywhere ! so it is a good time if you can to leave or continue to serve the company as best to your ability with the sattisfaction that you are somebody needed in life and do a good job being a POSTIE ! :nana keep positive and see what happens !

EL Careto,

WhereI live they are queing upfor a posties job and I cannot blame them, the wages Royal Mail pay compared to the likes of ASDA and other big name stores are twice as good these big names are paying the minium wage. Lets get real here most of our colleage do not have trades or qualifications myself included, we have a secure job with decent wages and I do know some of our managers are pr**s bit at the end of the day where would we get a better job. When you are out the door in the morning you are your own boss, it is not like a factory where you are constantly watched. I think it is about time we called a spade a spade and appreceiate what we have got.

EL, you are your own worst enemy, with lots of spare time on your hands...are you still off sick? OK some of your points ring true ,fair enough, but overweight bags, ? come on , thats down to you, waiting for missorts, thats not your problem,if the walk is too long ,then cut off. You only have so much time on your delivery and if you make it work , and by the looks of it you are , then why would rm change it for you.Like i have said before, grow some balls and stand up for yourself. :wave
I married my wife for her looks, but not the one she gave me when i said i was going to be a postman.

i agree with this. plus, reading this board, it seems as tho everyone hates this job. i still enjoy it myself, and i'm not sure what else i'd rather do. apart from something fantastical, like doing sound effects for films, or being a professional footballer :nana

i like doing physical work, outdoors. i like the craic in the office early on. true, some days are rough and i have to work solid for 8 or 9 hours without a break, but then again some are easier, and i can stroll around and still get an early finish. on a bright spring tuesday morning, i couldn't be happier. surely i'm not the only one who thinks this way?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

ditto and no one has ever complained - just wait there patiently and you will get served when they finished dealing with their current customer. After all the maximum time it takes to sort us out can be measured in seconds rather minutes.
