Re: OK ..... Who has the smallest walk ?
There is a city centre round with 110 calls in our office which used to be part time. However any full timer who is now on it also has to take about 275 calls from another job too.
Being on a 24hr contract, if they want me to come in and sort it the 110 calls take me up to my finishing time (well theoretically). So if I'm lucky as I have been a couple of times I am looking at 1hr delivery on that job.

Walk was tested and it was over five and a half hours still waiting on official answer as to how it will be adjusted so in the meantime it's cut off every day and not a thing is saidPhantom wrote:No walk is longer than 3.5hrs - if you choose to go over this time then thats YOUR choice! So grow a pair, cut off and stop moaning.el_cartero wrote:The walks are f***ing CURRUPT!!! the managers make easy walks for there buddies while otheres are struggling hours after there times..
If they had said in the agreement they will check all walks are fair and equal i might of voted for that alone!

Re: OK ..... Who has the smallest walk ?
Our easiest walk is one i will never get on
I think its about 230 ish calls a which are all large houses on a very posh road with many letter boxes outside on the electric gates. The crafty guy that does it is one of the last to leave the office about an hour after the rest of us but gets back before any other. When he was off the other week a rest day cover guy completed it in 1hr 45 mins
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

The quickest round to complete in my office is also the one with the most calls on it.

Re: OK ..... Who has the smallest walk ?
One of the walks i cover on my float has only 240 calls.
The number of calls bears no direct relation to how easy/difficult a walk is , in most instances.
This one is the second hardest one i have done. Physically very demanding; very big houses which equates to very long gravel drives. And to make it more fun some houses have been built on the north face of the Eiger!!!

Threads entitled "Who has the smallest walk?" always throws up a red flag to me. It just screams of "I.B" and 'plant'. Hopefully I'm wrong, I really hope. But much like the 'planted' letters in the Courier, where everything is rosey and fine on the front line - I go with old adage from Deep Throat ( X-files) himself..Trust No One

Re: OK ..... Who has the smallest walk ?
my walk has 679 drops, takes 3.40 mins on average
easily the shortest (time span) of the 21 part-time walks covered by 4 and half hour day guys and gals. We dont get out of office till after 11 so the brave ones book and the really brave book EVERY day. Often see a few full -time guys (who are meant to tie us up and drop us off) finishing off their last few streets as we a driven out to first stop by taxis via all the drop points

They get paid the same as me they can do the same amount of work as me.Lounge Lizard wrote:Yes, we all know that's what happens, but after twenty years will your knees and back be fit for doing a proper length walk ?Caniel wrote:If my office is anything to go by the Walks are far from balanced and it's no surprise that the crusty old gits that have been in the post office 20 years or more all have the easy walks. That means they were back at the office before 13:00el_cartero wrote:The walks are f***ing CURRUPT!!! the managers make easy walks for there buddies while otheres are struggling hours after there times..

Re: OK ..... Who has the smallest walk ?
I took over a round in december when an old guy retired. It has around 530 calls on it, and used to take him 3.5 to 4 hours to complete every day.
He had loads took off it and was still trying to get more off leading up to his departure.
It takes me 3 on a bad day, normally around 2.5
