Yes, "You will start by sorting the mail in a loud, busy environment" as they say, but that's loud with the yorks, pods and chatter and without the additional racket of a radio.

why dont i have the right not to have it on at all :arrrghhh
It's not often I agree with a mackem. In fact I've never agreed with one, until now.

Why do they assume everyone wants to listen to Duran bloody Duran all morning?

Why do they have to have a radio on at all? Why do they shout to turn it back on within seconds of it going off?

Whats so important about it?

Get's on my nerves too.

Still a SMB though...

Our radio system goes all around the office. It was paid for using a first line fix. we occasionaly have it turned on although its locked in the dom office but now it is more often used as a public address system by management to tell us what to do.

I enjoy habing the radio on at work, its a laugh singing along to songs, I dont know if the issue here is the fact the radio is on at all or the fact its too loud, if its too loud then yes you have the right to have the volume at a reasonable level for everyone, if its the fact you dont want it on at all then i dont really have much to say on that, i guess thats down to you but i wouldnt want to take others enjoyment away if there was only 1 or 2 people who have a problem with it.

You can always ask as a compromise to have it tuned in to a station of your choice for some of the week. I find that a dose of Radio 3 gives them a taste of their own medicine. Before long they will be choosing to have the radio turned offaltogether rather than enduring classical music when it's your turn!

I like the radio on at work. We had some guys from other DO's come to our office during the severe weather and thought we were having a party. We've even got some contenders for X-Factor auditions
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

I have some sympathy with happymackem. If I hear that soppy Cheryl Cole song one more time .... :mad
And now she's ditched Cashley, there's not even a chance of him putting anything in her mouth to shut off her racket either

in our office there is one station one day and another the next, like radio 2 v galaxy fm, anyway one day an older colleauge decided he was sick listening to galaxy fm and took the scissors to the lead under the plug, it was the funniest thing for a while and his problem was solved, we had to wait for romec to come out and rewire the plug though

in the days before the present radio we too had two sometimes three radios on different stations and management was a told of my dislike of the noise and every manager since is/was aware of my feelings on this subject.
the present radio in my office was also bought with first line fix money(tho no one asked me or anyone else if they wanted it)
it is situated in the managers office and also has a tannoy function used by the dim it dont play either cds or tapes so i cant get my revenge that way. we have speakers spaced out in the office some above fittings, now when it first arrived a speaker was placed right above my fitting.i asked every day to either get the speaker moved or turned off as it was affecting my work and my home life and EVERY manager and the union men ignored me saying things like its too expensive to move or everyone has a right to have it on.
so one morning i came in sharp and turned the speaker (one)off great no noise above my head till one day when i came back from my holidays it was back on and turned up.
more words with the manager and my fitting was moved BUT that gave them the chance to turn the speakers up loud so now its worse.the radio like i say is in the dims office but whoever is in first puts it on usually the arrow so i now have to put up with heavy metal so called music for 4 hours a day,if i turn it down or ask for it turned down or over i get ignorned by the manager and get called twisty old @''@@@ by the click.
its so loud people have to shout to hear each other,
    my life is now HELL
    what can i do
apart from ripping the bastard thing off the wall? :arrrghhh
