IB - Why do they instil so much fear in Postie's ?

I would say that is a certainty.

You can tell when they're at our office because the room with the cameras in has a padlock on the outside of the door.

apart from them wanting to catch criminals which is fair enough.. what other kind of spys are out there watching us on our walks etc..

I honestly say in 35 years service I have never had anything to do with the IB . Or knowingly seen them or met them. Maybe I live in a world of my own , lol Just heard stories

Why is there such fear of these people? I've only been with RM for 12 months, but the fear just the mention of the letters 'I B' creates is laughable. All this is backed up by stories of the IB coming in and removing people from the premises never to be seen again! The staff make it sound like they are abducted and shot at dawn.

Very, very true. At other places I've worked at we've passed around info on unmarked Police cars, location of speed traps etc etc. But mention the IB at POMC and it's as if you've farted in church or mentioned the Masons! No one seems comfortable to discuss them, not even the CWU. People who have been caught don't want to say too much or give IB vehicle details etc. All very strange. Mention of the IB seems like yet another tool that management use to bully and intimidate people.

IB IB kind of lost all respect as soon as they became enforcers for management. Forget right and wrong ,if you don't follow the management line they get the IB boys to try to put the frighteners on. Just made me think how bent management was,and how reminiscent of the Mafia

IB are not that effective believe me. When you consider the geographical spread of Royal Mail units and people IB are a drop in the ocean and you would piss yourself laughing if you knew the strength of IB. Sorry, Royal Mail Corporate Security...

We must be the office that time forgot then. Heard one of ours got pulled for not carrying his bag which was in his car boot, they then took him to his car where he showed them.

Bunch of failed coppers, but the most level people you'll meet, they have chips on both shoulders.

Some Coppers are scathingly critical of them - Abysmal was the word used

I think that's generally true, most of the people taken away from my MC by the IB have never been seen again.
Though we never hear what happened to them, or seen any news reports of charges or trials.
But I know of one person who was suspended for almost a year before he was cleared and reinstated.
