Re: Later start times
I shudder when I see people saying "they're all ready to go at 08.30 but not allowed out til 9.30" - does anyone else not see the implication of that?
If you have 20 people ready an hour early and the manager says to each of the 20 - here's an hours worth of delivery - you can go and do that - what do you say? If that was to happen each day 6 days a week that would be 120 hours or three full time duties.

Re: Later start times
if your start time is 0600 then you should have 2 trays with several coded bundles wed onwards not touched, after IPS included then approx 2 hours to prep it all, bag it all ready for drivers should take you to 0900 then 40 min break, do retrieval out the door for 1000ish , about right .Big Daz wrote:IPS started at 0610 am and finshed at 0650 am today.

MentalVortex wrote:Surely, then, the whole point is to do the bare minimum expected during sorting and prep so that no one's ready until this supposed 'exit time' (there has NEVER been one stipulated in our office until this 9:30 thing), but if they're still ready earlier everyone should just hang about drinking tea until the designated time, take their mail out, and anything undelivered at cut-off time is taken back to the office. Sounds like that would work.
If there is time to hang about in addition the M/R then there is obvisouly not enough work to match the hours of attendance.
What is needed is the right amount of work for the hours you are scheduled to work, that means not having lots of spare time but also and more importantly not having more work than you have time to do.
It is very clear that RML have not managed to achive the above, so the question is, is it bad planning or just not possible?
Before longs and shorts we had 8 hour 25 mins day during the week, under longs and shorts that was changed to less time Monday and Tuesday but more on Wednesday Thursday and Friday. Did we need that time? NO we didnt!!!!!

FFS our second lorry doesn't arrive until 7am and we're lucky to finish at 7.45am but then it's a mad rush to get out the door by the 8.30 due time (at least for us rurals).Big Daz wrote:IPS started at 0610 am and finshed at 0650 am today.

Welcome to my DO.MentalVortex wrote:
resulting in delivery staff not being able to leave the office until (as management have hinted at) "around 10:30 or 11am."
Lets hope they don't introduce even later start times in my office cos some of us will be lucky to get home in time for tea.

Re: Later start times
I think it's strange that the DO i'm in is attached to a mail center gets it's mail when it has processed everyone else's and theirs has been dispatched,so that means very late,as for leaving the office at 08.30 i really thought those days were over.We are lucky if what is left of the town delivery's get out by 10.00 most of the rural's are gone but they have not been through a revision like the town duty's,we have so many staff that are now sorting part time walks off the IPS that it takes for ever to do the sorting, would not mind but none of the duty's that have been turned over to Part Time delivery's are that at all, most are over the span of 3.5hrs,so just a little advice for all those people that are living on borrowed delivery spans if you don't think about it, make sure you do your job properly, then what has been pushed through in our DO will happen to you!

Presuming you work to rule which is 6.15 to 2.15 at my office. Or are you claiming 1.5hrs o.t each day
wheres the fairness?

Re: Later start times

Say your out at 9-30,and YOUR delivery is 3-30 MAX, finishing at 1pm, its no surprise the management want more savings if you r finishing time is 2pm or so.
I dont understand those people who want out every day, earlier and earlier, your cutting your own throats.

Re: Later start times
dont u guys get it - this is a perfect way to get you guys going part time.
later start times - just like part timers...
but remember part timers are out not long after u ,maybe 10 minutes.
so whats your excuse going to be now for finishing early?
your going to get more work - just liek the struggling part timers..
there cutting ur morning time away in preperation for the WALK SORTING MACHINES.
your getting sold down the river this time lads .
and just to rub it in your not getting paid for d2d any more + the caps off.
they must be loving this reccession knowing people cant just walk away

Some of your posts seem to be a little spiteful IMO, It seems because RM treat you like shite you want to see others treated the same.el_cartero wrote:dont u guys get it - this is a perfect way to get you guys going part time.![]()

Re: Later start times
It can work and does, every office should have a 318 which shows your time to leave the office and you work towards that. It's not a case of doing the bare minimum but more like just paceing yourself, and when people start to wake up and see that it's not a race you don't find you have so much spare time in a day. As for what you said about cut-off's, If you leave on time and don't complete then yes cut-off and bring it back. If your the only one doiing the job properly it can be hard, but if their's a majority then it's easy andit does work and protects jobsMentalVortex wrote:Surely, then, the whole point is to do the bare minimum expected during sorting and prep so that no one's ready until this supposed 'exit time' (there has NEVER been one stipulated in our office until this 9:30 thing), but if they're still ready earlier everyone should just hang about drinking tea until the designated time, take their mail out, and anything undelivered at cut-off time is taken back to the office.
