Ref the above, and those others who say they weren't told the subs were being increased - Guess what?Stormproof wrote:I'm beginning to wonder what the hell we are paying the subs for..........no communication from them apart from the odd letter and a mag that never comes out of the wrapper because its full of crap. IMO HQ treat us like mushrooms. Time to work for your money HQ otherwise I'm sure you will lose a lot of members.
If you'd bothered to open the wrapper of the latest issue of "The Voice" first, before having a moan, you'd be better informed.
If you had opened it you'd have seen that there is an article from the Senior DGS, Tony Kearns, who is the Union's "Treasurer", about the increase in subs!
and the details of the planned increases were also published in a Letter to Branches some months ago.
Perhaps you should be asking your local branch whether they published the notice locally.
Alternatively - sign up for email copies of all LTBs from HQ directly on the website (When it's working that is!)
That way you'll know before anyone else.

I agree that we must vote these cnuts out. The only trouble is, will we be allowed to?
The cnuts we want to get rid of are the ones that count the votes.
We need to join a union that will protect us from this union.

Re: CWU Subs.
My gripe is not so much the actual cost we are paying but the justification of a Union with a membership of over 100,000 members has to rake in now a minimum of £300,000 a week. When they ask us to back them and go on strike and it's members lose money 'for the Greater Good' - wouldn't it be morally ethical for a Union with such huge financial resources behind it, create a 'strike fund' or it's beleaguered members whilst they struggle to justify the means of a strike?vanman wrote:Ref the above, and those others who say they weren't told the subs were being increased - Guess what?Stormproof wrote:I'm beginning to wonder what the hell we are paying the subs for..........no communication from them apart from the odd letter and a mag that never comes out of the wrapper because its full of crap. Unions are happy to take with one hand but not give back with the other. For a Union whose business is communication, they are indeed one of the worst for keeping their members informed on a daily basis. In fact, I felt more updated on the situation regarding the strike ( ( albeit one sided)from Sky's Kay Burley's reports than I did from anyone at the Union, National or otherwise.

We also try to inform RMC members of important LTBs when we get them - in fact the increase was mooted and posted in this thread in December http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... t=increase" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;vanman wrote:Ref the above, and those others who say they weren't told the subs were being increased - Guess what?Stormproof wrote:I'm beginning to wonder what the hell we are paying the subs for..........no communication from them apart from the odd letter and a mag that never comes out of the wrapper because its full of crap. Re: CWU Subs.
The union subs have risen by 3%.
This year's pay award has risen by 0%.
If the union members are expected to manage with a 0% rise in wages then so should the union heirachy.

I've read some tosh in my time but this takes the biscuit.
The CWU isn't perfect by a long chalk but I reckon there's a fair few of you moaning about it who wouldn't have the job if it wasn't for the union
Work it out

You get a diary?
First I've heard, not that I've got a life anymore, too tired to go out but I could always put my drs & physio appointments in it
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets
Illegitimi non carborundum

Re: CWU Subs.
Sadly true, and judging by some of the postings in this and other similar threads, some see the union as a cross between Tony Soprano and Father Christmas and get so annoyed when they personally feel things don't go the way they should. In reality, the CWU (despite it's many failings) is all that stands between many and a life of burger-flipping or Tesco shelf-stacking. Or worse..........I've read some tosh in my time but this takes the biscuit. The elections for national officers are overseen by independent scrutineers - so they are not fiddling the vote are they ?

and all for twelve quid a month.
This should be Gordon Browns new motto for the U.K. What's latin for "You have no right to voice your opinions for it could be worse!"
That is one of the major things that is wrong with this country we accept anything for fear the alternatives may be worse.
Rather than strive for improvement we accept the mediocre.
Yes,Tman at the moment a life of flipping burgers may seem worse but for how much longer?
Yes,Tman at the moment life without the union would be worse but for how much longer?
