Failure is a justified means to an end and that end is the end of royalmail as the senior managers and the board of directors see it as well as many in NEW LABOUR!.

Your right about the ones down south a little bit of snow and the whole city shuts down lol  Only teasing.
I can confirm that down south we are a bunch of softies! We had about an inch of snow and the town was at a standstill. The real problem was the ice.

With regards to failures, we managed to clear today, but it was close and was the heaviest Xmas Eve in 10 years!

Have you seen this story?
THE Royal Mail has revealed Christmas Eve deliveries have been disrupted by the icy conditions after it was alleged all services out of the Taunton Delivery Office had been cancelled.

The County Gazette received reports that workers at the Taunton depot had refused to go out in the ice, leading to all services being scrapped.

It was also alleged that staff had agreed to work extra hours on Tuesday to make up for it – four days after Christmas.

But a Royal Mail spokesman said staff from the delivery office were “attempting” deliveries today “where possible” and said the office would remain open until 5pm so customers with suitable proof of ID could collect items themselves.

I cleared my delivery today but I went over by 2 hours, I couldn't really face people not getting their cards/gifts before Christmas.

But I have to agree that today was the heaviest Christmas Eve I can remember and the worst organised (it really seems to catch them out every year but this was the worst).

We've got X amount of yorkies full of packets in the parcel hall, just too think some poor kiddies x-mass might be lying in amongst them, And all for what? So's Royal Fail can save a few measly hours

My office in RG area failed.
Had to cut off at duty time to pick up wfe.
Felt bad bringing back cards.
Were told to take packets and leave anything else.
Packets failed, xmas cards failed.
2 yorks of packets didn't go.
Will blame ice / snow but down to appalling organisation - closing reading / oxford mail centres.
Oh yes and a couldn't give a s**t about the customers attitude.
Had 2 doms and 2 line managers drinking coffee and just staring at full yorks for 2 hours whilst we were sorting in the morning when there were vans available to use for them!

I personally received 6 packets Xmas eve - some were sent 5/6th december!

Up until a few months ago my office never failed now its a daily occurrance - rounds don't even get prepped, let alone delivered sometimes.

2010 will see this "service" deteriorate even further.

An absolute disgrace!
