It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

The half days are usually rolled over (unless you want to take it) so you get a full day every other year.

No, it's definitely 4 and a half weeks on entry - since the Way Forward, 2000.Carew wrote:Do you mean 3 weeks and half weeks for entry.baldrick wrote:On entry = Four and a half weeks.POSTMAN wrote:I'm over 5 years and can't rem what extra i got, does anyone know.

Before that we used to get 3 weeks and 4 days on entry IIRC, plus 2 and a half 'priviledge' days.
The priviledge days were one day at Christmas, one day for the Queen's Birthday, and a half day for
Maundy Thursday - though you didn't actually take them on those days, and they were added to your AL.
With the Way Forward we got one extra day on entry and the 'priviledge' days were incorporated
into the Annual Leave.

WHAT IS THE POINT!!
Started in August and not heard a peep about holidays or anything hell am still on my bleedin trial and got called in last week there to choose my holidays and get told I can only have April then get given a sheet to pick my holidays for winter 2010 and 2011.
WTF
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Re: No "days" off allowed!
You sure seniority exists on holiday picking? - doesn't in our office anymore. Everyone gets a fair shot at any week, if it's over booked names go in a hat.Pegman wrote:I've got my summer holiday booked for next year, week in Cornwall, January the f***ing fourth to the ninth, my missus is over the moon, I hate bloody seniority
Re days off - our days off roll round, so if your day off this week is Tues, next week it'll be Weds, week after Thurs etc etc - great as every 6 weeks you have a Sat followed by a Mon.
Odd days in annual leave are fine and you can have them when is free and apparently we've just learned that when picking weeks it does not have to be mon to mon, but can be say weds to weds.

Re: No "days" off allowed!
I am PT temp according to my DOM I have to accrue my days before I can book time off, that time off in January is my 2009 summer holiday, so if I want to book 10 days in the summer, according to my maths I will have to work 6 1/2 months before I can book it, by then all the weeks will have gone, same as this year, wife went on holiday with the kids minus meRoyalQuest wrote:Don't understand , When are your other 3 weeks then. He asked us all to fill in holiday forms a couple of weeks ago, but all the PT temp staff have gone to the bottom of the list

Seriously whats the deal with getting a good holiday ?
I just get the feeling its corrupt and some people will allways get there own way.
Imagine if ur best mates with management.
They could potentially make ur life ... very easy
