I have recorded several meetings/interviews with management! Im pretty sure its inadmissable as evidence but its easy enough to put the recordings onto cd and play them for everyone to hear!
I tend to go into these interviews without representation as I quite enjoy the personal battle with the manager and enjoy spending as long as possible arguing about the interpretation of the rules and procedures they waffle on about!! my favourite being the attendance stage 1 warning!! (so so so much fun!!).

Re: Recording Disciplinary Hearing
Thank you for all of your input. I called my rep today. So long story short. If he can't get either of the two reps (at such short notice) he knows to represent me, (simply due to lack of notice that I've had), he will phone the office and postpone the hearing on my behalf.
The electronic recording issue was a straightforward upfront "I would like to record this meeting" request. Nothing underhand, God forbid I should take on management behaviour.
The irony of all this is huge. I came to the Royal Mail because like most of the general public I had a rosy romantic view of the job. You know the idea, talking to pensioners, clapping dogs, walking at a sensible pace even.
I had a final terrible year of hassle, victimisation and tremendous upset at my previous job which I finally manged to escape from with a bit of compensation. The laugh is, despite the company being run by total c****s, it took eleven and a half years before I got my first disciplinary...not eight weeks!!
As my mum always says, "you've always got something to learn when it comes to people". Cheers.

Re: Recording Disciplinary Hearing
Got a Return to Work "TALK" myself soon, and from previous experience, will take a Rep in, as there always seems to be a Management "Hidden Agenda".
First day in College, on Supervisory Management course the lecturer told us, "Management exists, just for ONE Thing: Communication. Communicating what the companies owners/upper management want, to the workers/employees."
Well, I've yet to see this in action so far...
