Re: DONT WORRY
[quote="Codebreaker"]dman - we both work at Plymouth MDEC.
I have known 100% for weeks that the 2 most senior Managers on site at MDEC Plymouth log on and look here.
I have never had a problem with that. If POSTMAN says they cannot get our IP addresses then that I take as Gospel.
Let us hope that at todays meeting a form of words can be agreed to allow the strike on friday to be postponed, incidentally you are working on friday as the cma are not in dispute with Royal Mail, the only time i can remember the cma being in dispute and taken some action nobody realised they were missing.

Which is certainly the answer I would expect from the holidaymakers allegedly 'managing' our office. Incredible really as the father of one was a good union man and as nice a bloke you could wish to meet. I would die of shame if either of my kids turned out to be a puppet of the ruling class.DirtyHarry wrote:Accept that you have a bleak future ahead of you. to embrace this brave new world for postalworkers. Or crap to that effect , that's my guess at what his answer
will be. :lfo :cfo

I agree with the first part but Royal Mail left us no choice when they refused to compromise on the pay deal. However don't agree with the competition bit as its not real but a contrived form of competition at the moment so now is probably the best time to strike.

No thanks. That's a bit like going for a pint with someone who held the coats of the gang who beat you up and stole your wallet.mpeard wrote:Perhaps a better approach for the future of the business would have been to engage the CMA and the CWU in a joint approach.

MPEARD
I actually respect the fact that you've had the balls to admit who you are and make a post on here with your opinions, I wish all screws had the intelligence to decide what to do for themselves rather than following the corporate line ALL of the time.
HOWEVER I do not agree that we should not be using strike action as the only alternative at this stage (bearing in mind all forms of negotiation, including acas, have failed many times) would be a work to rule. RM have been very shrewd over the past few years and by implimenting "job and knock" people now work harder than they otherwise would and use methods they shouldn't, just to get away a few minutes earlier. This attitude is now virtually impossible to change and a work to rule would struggle to get full support with people insisting that they need to get done and get away.
It is a strange anomaly that people would not risk losing an hour in their afternoons but will risk losing a full days pay to go out on strike i agree, but the feeling among staff is so strong at the moment people will do just that.
This is simply the strongest message we can send to 2 people (Leighton & Crozier) that otherwise refuse to listen.

What's happened mpeard, why have you edited your posts?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

"Anyway - fire away with the dismissive responses. If you're from MDEC come and talk to me. You can wear a bag over your head if you don't want me to know who you are.
mpeard"
Mark
Have you any idea how patronising that sounds?
If you think you know who I am then why on this Earth would you suggest I wear a bag over my head? Or indeed anyone else.
I don't think you are the 'type' of Manager to hang around for a while - you are too intelligent to NOT realise that you are valued and therefore have a good future at MDEC Plymouth. HOWEVER...
From your post I suggest it may be a good idea to think about how you are interacting with people. If it is relevent HERE then it must surely bleed over to your 9-5 (ish) activities.
PS: Did you have a fruitful and beneficial day for RM when you were "working from home" one day this week?
The CMA is an Association - the CWU is a Union - not really up for comparison.
It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.

That sounds about right,it is a shame cause as Managers go Mpeard is quite an amiable person.billypants wrote:oh dear has mpeard been gagged by his bosses. How unusual, RM not wanting it's managers to talk openly and honestly with us.
