Actually, without the unions there would have been no Labour Party.
But they seem to have forgotten that. :mfo

We haven't 'starved them off money'.
It was a consultative ballot to show we are disgusted at our Union giving
money to people who are responsible for RM's attacks on us. :mfo

Forgive my ignorance but what use is money when a LP activist can simply knock on the door and engage a voter?

Flashy advertising a leaflet or a knock on the door and debate with a activist, its not hard to work out which is most likely to lead to a voter putting the X next to labour!!

You don't think the absolute crappiness of the Labour Party might have something to do with the decision then?

It probably has. That, and the short-sighted stupidity of some "traditional" Labour voters.
"It's wot Labour has done to RM innit" as the cliche seems to go, but doubtless two months into the next (Tory) administration, the same ovine flock will be harking back to those "good old days under a Labour guv'ment".

Turkeys and Christmas spring to mind.

So whats worse

Labour do nothing policy or Conservative do something policy which is to bring about the regulatory and pension changes but still proceed with a minority sell off.

Lets face it the government of the day will get a better price once regulation and pensions have been dealt with, it makes economic sense to do that before a sell off and get a better price from the minority partner.

Imagine the irony of our pensions being saved by a Conservative Government

Good grief! I can't believe that there are still so many people who still fall for the old "if Labour don't get in, we'll have the Tories", and (in previous years) "if the Tories don't get in, we'll end up with Labour"! :d'oh! :arrrghhh WAKE UP PEOPLE! THERE ARE MORE THAN 2 POLITICAL PARTIES IN BRITAIN!!!!! :d'oh! :arrrghhh

The ONLY reason that we alternate between Labour and Conservative, is because there are so many people. Who just blindly accept the rhetoric, that if they don't vote for one, we'll end up with the other! It's a self fullfilling phrophecy! Think for yourselves, come Election time! Don't just "follow the Herd"!

Everyone should look at each Candidate they have to choose from. And make an informed decision, based on their policies. NOT just on the blind assumption that if you don't vote Labour, you'll be stuck with the Tories, or vice, versa. :arrrghhh :d'oh! :arrrghhh

I can't believe people (like you) who still believe there ARE more than two parties in Britain. Even the third biggest (Lib Dems) still have a zero chance of forming the next government, so why even mentioning any other two men and a dog parties?
Greens, SWP, BNP, etc all just a waste of Biro..

Perhaps this section of my post will enlighten you (perhaps you should read posts properly, before criticising?):
The ONLY reason that we alternate between Labour and Conservative, is because there are so many people. Who just blindly accept the rhetoric, that if they don't vote for one, we'll end up with the other! It's a self fullfilling phrophecy! Think for yourselves, come Election time! Don't just "follow the Herd"!

Please try to think for yourself once in a while. Instead of blindly following your particular Herd. :arrrghhh :arrrghhh

The reason that none of the other Parties have posed a serious threat to either Labour or Conservatives. Is because people are afraid that if they don't vote for one, then the other will get in. That's the nature of a self fullfilling prophacy: If you believe it, it will happen. If you don't, it won't. Simples!

Perhaps you should also read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-fulfilling_prophecy" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and this: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-a-self- ... ophecy.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This paragraph, from the second Link, sums it up perfectly:
Robert Merton, a 20th century sociologist, actually coined the term of self-fulfilling prophecy. In his definition, in the book Social Theory and Social Structure published in 1949, the prophecy or prediction is false but is made true by a person’s actions. In the modern sense the prophecy has neither false nor true value, but is merely a possibility that is made into probability by a person’s unconscious or conscious actions

it's just another outlook on Reality!
