Re: Refusing to do lapsing on principal
If you have the time in your day then you have no choice but to do the lapsing but if (after coming in on time and doing the job properly) you don't have the time then just tell them that you can't do it (I know it's difficult to constantly fight but it has to be done).

Re: Refusing to do lapsing on principal
Don't see how someone who does his job in the time alloted has caused any problems. Job and finish is dead and buried, if you want to come in early and work for free, if you want to forego your meal break and work for free ,if you want to scamper about like a headless chicken, then thats your choice ,no need to get uppity about those that refuse to fall for the management bullmclovin wrote:Of course you're right he is doing me a favour, cos I wont be doing lapsing any more.
Its people like him who have the job f****d up.

Re: Refusing to do lapsing on principal
My advice is that refusing any work is risky and puts the ball in their court re: disciplinary action against you. Don't give them the satisfaction. I'd carry on as you are but if you feel you have a Grievance then smack one in. Fight fire with fire but keep it on your terms and not play straight into their hands. Go out in the official way (van, bus whatever), don't use your car, make sure you stick to the official bag weights, start on time oand not before, P739 everything where there is no answer. Use your initiative to make your delivery work for you and make it for 3.5 hours then you have no time to absorb anything!mclovin wrote:Im thinking of refusing to do the lapsing on the principal that some people are crying off and getting away with it almost every day, I'm fed up with doing it while others piss around and whinge and moan to the gaffer and end up not doing it at least 4 out of 6 days.
Whats the Union stance should I choose this route?
Gaffer has already told us if we slow down any (there are a few of us who seem to be faster than the lead swingers, but without "running") then he'll conduct code us, which is bollocks if you ask me.

Re: Refusing to do lapsing on principal
1. I come in on my time.
2. I dont even own a car.
3. I take my meal break at the end, childcare issues means I have no choice.
4. Headless chicken?? No way, just a fair pace, not running but not strolling around like Im taking summer walk round the park.
Its a fact in our office that if you whinge, moan and cry like a bairn the gaffer wont touch you, if you get on with doing your job you get more s**t.

Re: Refusing to do lapsing on principal
Quite right in the above post. Still only ten allowed off in our office even though two duties are being lapsed. That was the only decent thing to come from this agreement. Lapsing 2 walks for 10 weeks should have created 20 weeks of annual leave for our office during the summer, only our dom reckons he doesn't have to lapse if he has issues with long term illness (we have 2 or 3 off) so now I've got to go from March to October without any leave at all! Seems doms can change agreements to suit their needs, but when you ask for the same courtesy, its up yours!
