I will second and third that, the third is for any of the drivers, because they know it and abuse it.St.Dave wrote:Our drivers get away with murder, they do what they want, when they want and we have to lump it. At Bolton North our managers are ok and the DOM is a decent bloke but the driver...FFS they are LAZY

can only speak for my office but theres a big divide between towns and ruralsTrueBlueTerrier wrote:Where is your solidarity lads. Where I work from we are all one big (un)happy band - definitely no feeling of them or us at our level. Can't be said for management level though.
one of my colleagues offered his driving rural job to swap for a town walk as he wanted to finish a couple of hours early most days and so far hes had no offers to swap
as i see it i choosed a driving duty yes i dont have to lug sackfulls of mail (i done 15 yrs of that )about but i dont get the chance to finish as early as the towns in my office
my opinion town(walk) rural (drives) are 2 very different jobs now but we are playing right into managements hands by arguing amongst ourselves we should be arguing with our DOMS not ourselves
but funny enough since the start of the strike action we seem as a office to be more united (apart from the strike breakers)
which is prob winding our DOMS right up

You only get Driving Allowance for a high-top and drivers don't get D2D payments or if they do its only minimal(maybe 30+houses). I'm glad I came off driving, up to 20 timed bag drops, bulk mail, packets, the posties get done and go home from their walk, the driver has to collect all the packets/cards and then has to take it all back to callers, then park up, fuel, wash the van(occassionally), take the keys back. So its not such an easy time as you may think. Don't knock it till you've tried it.pip and wave wrote:It depends if you are a driver or a postperson, the drivers get much more even though they do less work, sit in their van listening to the radio and reading the newspaper with their elbow out of the window, or throwing packets back at the postie and refusing to drop bags off because they cannot be at a meeting place in time, you see they get priviligies like bonus payments which come from posties who earn it for them which is all![]()

Perhaps my defined area is more defined than yours ?pussycatboi wrote:How come you get so much defined area supplement? i part time too and only get a mere fraction of that! lolSpedley wrote:I'm part time and my pay slip from 1 month ago reads ...

NET PAY £203.45
How much do you get (I get 30/40 of the £20 that full timers get)
I also avoid D2D by being a floater - the reason I picked the job.

I have covered a couple of driving duties for the total of 1 week each drive, so all I can think of is our driving duties are easier than yours, to emphasise my point even more, do you think - try and get a transfer to - holiday Bolton Drivers.k66yla wrote:You only get Driving Allowance for a high-top and drivers don't get D2D payments or if they do its only minimal(maybe 30+houses). drivers and delivery
believe me I have did delivery, then went on the vans and am now back on delivery. Dont get me wrong i didnt change cause I didnt like the driving but because I was puttin on weight.
Both jobs are hard goin but in different ways, driving much more stressfull, especially as I was doin it city centre, lots of traffic and having to drop of bags and men to their walks before starting delivering a hi top sherpa van that had the rear floor covered front to back and three high with deliveries.
Now on the worst walk in the office, but much fitter again so love it.
